(Minghui.org) A computer science teacher and his wife from Kunming City were illegally sentenced by Kunming City Intermediate Court. Mr. Su Kun and Ms. Zhang Xiaodan were arrested and sentenced, and accused of installing computer systems for others.

The Kunming City Intermediate Court recently notified the couple's parents to obtain the court verdict, and Mr. Su’s mother went and picked it up. The court had no evidence that the couple committed any crime, and ignored the fact that they had benefited greatly in body and mind by practicing Falun Gong. Court judge Yang Jie sentenced Mr. Su to six years and Ms. Zhang to four years of imprisonment. The couple has now appealed to the provincial Supreme Court.

The Kunming Intermediate Court held the fourth session of the trial at 9:30 am on July 2, 2013. Prosecutors Tang Yaqin and Li Yunbing accused the couple of installing computer software for others with no charge as the “evidence.” This “evidence” was objected to by the defense lawyer. The lawyer told the court that Mr. Su had committed no crimes and that he was a good person that benefited society. Three previous sessions were held, but the trial was quickly adjourned by judge Yang Jie.

Background

Practitioner Mr. Su Kun is a computer science teacher at Yunnan Defense Vocational and Technical College. After the Chinese communist regime began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners on July 20, 1999, Mr. Su had been persecuted several times by police in Panlong District. He was sentenced to three years of forced labor in 2004 after someone reported him to police while he was distributing Falun Gong materials. He was detained at the second provincial forced labor camp, and his term was extended by seven months. He was not released until July of 2008.

On May 4, 2012, police arrested the couple and conducted a house search. On January 21, 2013, the City Intermediate Court opened a trial on the couple. The first session only lasted half an hour before judge Yang Jie hastily adjourned it.

Session two of the trial opened on April 7, 2013. Judge Yang Jie stopped the defense lawyer from asking the persons involved in persecuting the couple any questions. When the lawyer asked about obtaining permission from the court judge and defending the lawyer’s rights, judge Yang got very angry and immediately adjourned the trial.

The third court session was unexpectedly opened on May 24. However, when prosecutors Tang Yaqin and Li Yunbing provided testimony but could not come up with any evidence to prove that the couple had broken any laws, the judge adjourned the trial again.
