(Minghui.org) Ms. Ge Xiaotian from the Haitang residential area in Jinshan District, Shanghai, was illegally arrested by police from the Jinshan District Domestic Security Division in April 2012. The officers ransacked her residence and incarcerated her in the Jinshan District Detention Center. Ms. Ge's family members were not allowed to visit her until September 3, 2012.

Her daughter, Ms. Chi Yao, was also arrested by police from the Jinshan District Domestic Security Division on the afternoon of November 4, 2012. Subsequently, the Jinshan District Procuratorate issued an official arrest order, claiming that Ms. Chi had published some so-called “prohibited” information on the Internet.

Details of the Case

On April 10, 2012, Ms. Ge Xiaotian and another practitioner, Ms. Yuan Yahui, were followed by police while walking on the street. Shortly thereafter, they were intercected by officers in two police cars and arrested. Xia Hui from the Domestic Security Division, police officers Jin Hong and Huang Hong, and members from the Residential Committee then went to Ms. Ge's home and ransacked it. Her e-book reader and other personal belongings were confiscated.

Ms. Ge's daughter, Ms. Chi Yao, made repeated calls to Lu Yibiao, deputy head of the Jinshan Domestic Security Division, to ask why she had not received any written notice of her mother's detention. Lu lied and told her that he was not in charge of the case and did not know where her mother was being held.

When Ms. Chi said that she was going to expose the matter on the Internet, Zhao Yong from the district 610 Office informed her that family members were not allowed to visit Ms. Ge. He also asserted that the notice of Ms. Ge's detention had not yet been approved; however, Ms. Ge had already been detained for over four months at that time.

The authorities finally allowed Ms. Chi to visit her mother at the Jinshan District Detention Center on September 3, 2012. Ms. Chi saw wounds and red scars on her mother's wrists and learned that Ms. Ge had been kept in handcuffs nearly the entire time. As a form of torture, she was handcuffed for long periods of time, the longest being six continuous days.

On the afternoon of November 4, 2012, Ms. Chi went out and was arrested by police from the Jinshan District Domestic Security Division. Afterward, Jiang Guoqian and other agents searched her house and her workplace, confiscating a computer.

On November 30, 2012, the Jinshan District Procuratorate issued an official arrest order for Ms. Chi, claiming that she had published some so-called “prohibited” information on the Internet.

Ms. Ge Xiaotian Repeatedly Imprisoned for Her Faith

On November 17, 2000, Ms. Ge was detained for hanging banners that exposed the persecution of Falun Gong. She was incarcerated at the Jinshan District Detention Center. Six months later, police discovered that she was pregnant and sent her to a hospital to undergo a forced abortion. Due to the hospital's objections, the baby was spared. After giving birth to a son, Ms. Ge was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment; she was put on probation for 3 years.

On August 17, 2004, five days before her probation was up, she was arrested again and sent to Songjiang Women's Prison. She was imprisoned until March 8, 2007.

On June 17, 2008, Ms. Ge was arrested once more while she spoke to people in the supermarket about Falun Gong. She was subsequently sent to a labor camp for one year.
