(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Qiaolan from Pingding County, Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, was imprisoned by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) for nine years. The CCP recently arrested her and intends to illegally sentence her once again.
Officer Duan Fuming of the 610 Office in Pingding County claimed he was acting on orders from his superior, Political and Legal Affairs Committee secretary of Pingding County Yang Yanhong, to arrest Ms. Wang. Yang said she was “against the party and communism.” Pingding County {{Procuratorate} claimed that, as long as she still believes in Falun Gong or was once imprisoned for practicing Falun Gong, she has to be sentenced.
At 5 p.m. on November 6, 2012 Ms. Wang, who was doing business in Shijiazhuang City, was heading back home after work. She was arrested by Duan Fuming and three other officers. Some passersby asked them why they arrested people so casually. Duan Fuming replied sarcastically, “You can call 110” (the equivalent of 911 in China) and then drove away.
Ms. Wang's family went to the local police department two days later. They were given a summons notice. Three days later they were told that Ms. Wang had been detained and was in the Yangquan City Detention Center.
Ms. Wang was formerly employed at the Commerce Bureau of Pingding County. In 1999, the CCP began the persecution of Falun Gong and the public media deliberately smeared its reputation. To appeal on behalf of Falun Gong, Ms. Wang brought her younger daughter to the provincial government and Beijing. She was arrested and sentenced to three years in jail. After her term was up and she returned home, the police watched her every day around the clock. In order to make a living, she had to go to another city to work. The police then went to her relative's home to harass and threaten them, and they took Ms. Wang's photo to visit her relatives' neighbors, telling them to monitor Ms. Wang's activities. With no other option, Ms. Wang had to return home and ran a small shop to make ends meet. Within days, the police came to her home to search it and arrested her again. Less than a year after her release from jail, she was sentenced to six years in prison.
While she was incarcerated, Ms. Wang suffered all kinds of torture. The guards once deprived her of sleep for over 40 days. She was forced to sit on a tiny stool for a long time, exposed to the scorching sun (she once fainted from heatstroke), and forced to do slave labor.
Ms. Wang was born to a family in the countryside, and her father died when she was very young. Her third elder sister had congenital heart disease and Ms. Wang took care of her from the time she was able. When Ms. Wang got married, she took her sister into her home. She and her husband took care of her until her death. In addition, Ms. Wang had a very good reputation among her neighbors and colleagues. She lived by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, yet she has been frequently persecuted by the CCP. The Chinese New Year is coming up but she is once again in jail. How can her relatives not be angry?
Since her arrest Ms. Wang has been on a hunger strike to resist the persecution, and her life is presently in danger. Her family had hired an attorney, but the Pingding County Police Department has been coming up with all kinds of excuses to prevent her attorney from seeing her.
We will be watching the progress of this case, and hope that people from the international community will also pay attention to it.
