Additional Persecution News from China – August 21, 2012 (15 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 12 cities or counties in 7 provinces. According to this report, 14 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during detention, and at least 15 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province] American Resident Ms. Xiong Jiangnan Arrested in China

Ms. Xiong Jiangnan, 50, lives in San Francisco. She went to her hometown in China--Xiangtang Town, Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province--to visit her parents, who are in their 80s. On the morning of August 19, 2012, Ms. Xiong was arrested at her parents' home by officers from the Xiangtang Police Station. She was released on the morning of August 20, 2012.

2. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Liu Chunxia Sent to Brainwashing Center

Xu Dianyou, Party secretary of Xingguo Village, Wanjinshan Township, led officers to Ms. Liu Chunxia's home on August 16, 2012. The agents attempted to force Ms. Liu to write a guarantee statement to give up practicing Falun Gong. She refused. Afterward, Ms. Liu was arrested by Liu Shunchao from the Baoqing 610 Office, Zhao Shengyu from the Wanjinshan Township Police Station and other officers. She was sent to the Yichun Brainwashing Center.

3. [Nantong, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Zhang Jufen Detained

Ms. Zhang Jufen, 57, is a retired employee of the Nantong Leather Factory in Jiangsu Province. She was arrested at the beginning of June 2012 and is being held in the Luhongzha Detention Center.

4. [Shandong Province] Practitioners Abused in Shandong Province First Women's Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Qi Guiling has developed two tumors on her liver. She went on a hunger strike to protest the mistreatment at the Shandong Province First Women's Forced Labor Camp. She has been detained for three years.

Ms. Liu Shuxia from Hebei Province and Mr. Yang Guorong from Yantai, Shandong Province, are being detained in Division No. 1 of the labor camp, and have been mistreated there.

Ms. Liu Jie, Ms. Li Maiying and Ms. Yang Yonghua from Weihai and Ms. Liu Youqin from Weifang were brutally tortured in this labor camp.

5. [Xinmi, Henan Province] Ms. Yang Baoxian and Mr. Chen Shuisheng Detained

Liu Hongjian, deputy director of the Xinmi 610 Office led people to Ms. Yang Baoxian's home around noon on August 25, 2012. Ms. Yang was arrested and is being held in the Xinmi Detention Center.

Mr. Chen Shuisheng was also arrested and detained at the same time. He is on a hunger strike.

6. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhang Lijuan and Two Others Arrested

Ms. Zhang Lijuan and two other practitioners went to Songjiang District to speak to people about Falun Gong on the morning of August 18, 2012. They were arrested by officers from the Songjiang Police Department. Ms. Zhang's whereabouts following the arrest are unknown. The other two practitioners have been released.

7. [Chongqing] Ms. Ding Changhong Arrested

Ms. Ding Changhong was arrested on the afternoon of August 19, 2012.

8. [Tianmen, Hebei Province] Ms. He Meirong and Mr. Chen Jianxin Arrested

Ms. He Meirong and Mr. Chen Jianxin were recently arrested.

9. [Qingdao, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Ruizhen Detained (Update)

Ms. Wang Ruizhen and her daughter from Chengyang District went to Lijiaxicheng, Jimo, Shandong Province, to speak to people about Falun Gong on August 19, 2012. They were arrested by officers from the Huanxiu Police Station in Jimo. Ms. Wang's daughter was subsequently released and picked up by her family. Ms. Wang was held in the Jimo Detention Center for 5 days.

10. [Fushun, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Yuzhen Arrested

Ms. Liu Yuzhen, 72, is from Jiangjun area of Fushen. She was arrested by police while she spoke to people about Falun Gong in Shuiandongcheng on the afternoon of August 20, 2012. She was released 4 hours later.

11. [Chongqing] Mr. Cheng Yonghe Sentenced to 4.5 Years in Prison

Mr. Cheng Yonghe, about 37 years old, is from Shiyan, Changshou, Chongqing. On March 21, 2012, he was arrested at his office by officers from the Changshou District 610 Office and Domestic Security Division. The Changshou District Court sentenced him to 4.5 years in prison.

Previously, Mr. Cheng was arrested in 1999 and incarcerated in the Deyang Prison for 4 years. On January 23, 2003, he was taken to the Changshou Detention Center, where he was brutally tortured; his leg was broken. Subsequently, he was sent to the Dianjiang Forced Labor Camp for 3 years. On July 27, 2006, Mr. Cheng was arrested by police while he posted Falun Gong informational materials in Linshui County. He was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and sent to the Wumaping Prison in Sichuan Province.

12. [Chongqing] Ms. Han Weifang Arrested

Ms. Han Weifang from Yuzhong District was arrested by several plainclothes officers from the Yuzhong 610 Office, Domestic Security Division and police station on the night of August 19, 2012.

13. [Dazhou, Sichuan Province] Mr. Gao Wei and Others Taken to Dazhou Brainwashing Center

Mr. Gao Wei from Beiwai Town, Tongchuan District, was recently taken to the Dazhou Brainwashing Center. Currently, Mr. Li Xianfu, Mr. Luo Chaoming, Mr. Chen Kaixiang and Ms. Ju Ying are being detained in the brainwashing center.

14. [Jingshan County, Hubei Province] Ms. Wu Guangmei Arrested

Peng Yilin led personnel from the Jingshan 610 Office to ransack Ms. Wu Guangmei's home in Xuba Village, Luodian Town, on the afternoon of August 19, 2012. Ms. Wu was arrested.

15. [Tanghai County, Hebei Province] Mr. Zheng Xiangxing Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

Mr. Zheng Xiangxing was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Tanghai Court on July 27, 2012. He has been incarcerated in the Baoding Prison.
