Mr. Hu Lin and Mr. Pan Youfa from Shenyang, Liaoning Province Arrested and Tortured

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Hu Lin and Mr. Pan Youfa in Shenyang, Liaoning Province were arrested by local police on August 28, 2012. Mr. Hu was beaten until his face was covered with blood and his entire back was covered in bruises. His wrists also bled profusely from being handcuffed. Mr. Pan was beaten and handcuffed behind his back. Hu Lin was eventually released, but Pan Youfa is still being detained in Xinmin City Detention Center.

Under the direction of Shenyang City Domestic Security Division, officers from the Xinmin City Northwest Street Police Station, Xinmin City Domestic Security Division, and Huanggu District police from Shenyang City collaborated to tap into Hu Lin's phone. A plainclothes policewoman posed as a Falun Gong practitioner and tricked Hu Lin to go back to where he was living. The police followed him, broke into his apartment, seized Hu Lin and his friend Pan Youfa, and searched Mr. Hu's apartment.

During the arrest, one officer threw himself at Mr. Hu and fell on top of him. Another officer punched Mr. Hu in the head, face, and eyes until his face was covered with blood. Mr. Pan's leg, arm, and ribs were also injured from the beating. The officer then falsely accused Mr. Pan of injuring him with a knife.

The officers handcuffed the men behind their backs, shoved them down, and poured cold water over their faces. They covered Mr. Pan's head with underwear. During the ransacking, they confiscated about 10,000 yuan, a few bank cards and bank deposit books, a computer, a book cabinet containing Falun Dafa books, and other personal property.

The officers beat Hu Lin badly again when he refused to get into the police car. One of them hit his head, face, and eyes with such force that a blood vessel burst in his right eye. Blood covered his face and filled his nose and mouth. Then he was shoved into the police car. Both Mr. Hu and Mr. Pan were handcuffed and their heads, chests, and legs were taped down to the seats. Their heads were covered. They couldn't move and suffered every second of the two-hour ride to Xinmin Police Station.

Hu Lin and Pan Youfa were interrogated until 3 a.m. the next day at the police station in Xinmin. After nine hours, their handcuffs had cut into their flesh and their hands became swollen and bloody.

Mr. Hu and Mr. Pan were transferred to Xinmin City Detention Center at around 6:00 a.m. on August 29. Mr. Pan had difficulty walking because his leg and ribs were injured from the beatings. Blood kept flowing from the back of Mr. Hu's head. His right eye was badly bloodshot. His hands were bloody, and his left knee and back were injured and bruised. The detention center refused to admit them and told the police to take them to a hospital. They were beaten and abused again during the trip to the hospital. The police officers repeatedly threatened them not to tell anyone about the abuse when they went to the hospital.

To protest the persecution, Hu Lin started a hunger strike in the detention center. Guards directed inmates to monitor him and keep him from doing the Falun Gong exercises. A few days after he began the hunger strike, they poured cold water on him, causing his wounds to get infected. Due to his injuries, he was forced to sleep on his back. They poured concentrated salt water into his mouth while he slept.

Hu Lin was released from the detention center on the evening of September 3, after a six-day hunger strike. Pan Youfa is still being held in Xinmin City Detention Center.
