Additional Persecution News from China – August 11, 2012 (21 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 19 cities or counties in 12 provinces. According to this report, 32 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 20 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jia Liqing and Ms. Yu Huazhi Brought to Trial

Nangang District Court changed Ms. Jia Liqing's and Ms. Yu Huazhi's trial date several times. During this period, Ms. Jia's and Ms. Yu's attorney made three trips from Beijing to Harbin. Since the families had to bear all of the travel expenses, this brought big financial losses to both families.

The trial date was then set for August 3, 2012, but the hearing was secretly moved to the Wanggang Town Court. The court did not allow the families to attend the trial. The attorney for Ms. Jia and Ms. Yu entered a not-guilty plea.

Both practitioners were in poor health as a result of the abuse they endured in detention. Ms. Jia appeared emaciated and weighed about 80 lbs. Ms. Yu had lost eyesight in both eyes and suffered from elevated blood pressure (near 200 mmHg) and heart problems. She could not take care of herself and was accompanied to the trial by a guide.

2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Six Practitioners Sentenced to Prison

On April 19, 2012, Baoquanling Agricultural Reclamation Court tried 6 practitioners: Ms. Zhao Hongyu, Ms. Li Guiyun, Ms. Qi Xiumei, Ms. Lu Chengying, Mr. Liu Hongbin, and Mr. Liu Gui.

Ms. Zhao Hongyu was sentenced to 5 years in prison, Ms. Li Guiyun was sentenced to 4.5 years, Ms. Qi Xiumei was sentenced to 4 years, Mr. Liu Hongbin was sentenced to 3 years, Ms. Lu Chengying was sentenced to 2 years, and Mr. Liu Gui was sentenced to 1 year in prison.

Ms. Zhao, Ms. Li, and Ms. Qi appealed to the higher court, but their appeal was recently dismissed. These 3 practitioners and Ms. Lu Chengying were taken to the Harbin Prison on August 2, 2012.

Mr. Liu Hongbin was taken to the Jiamusi Prison. Mr. Liu Gui is still being held at the Baoquanling Detention Center.

3. [Dehui City, Jilin Province] Mr. Li Jianmin Arrested

Mr. Li Jianmin was arrested on August 9, 2012.

4. [Dongning County, Heilongjiang Province] Eight Practitioners Secretly Tried, Sentenced to Prison

Eight Dongning County practitioners have been detained for 7 months. Dongning County Court secretly tried the 8 practitioners at a detention center on August 9, 2012, without notifying the practitioners' families or their attorneys.

Mr. Miao Fu was sentenced to 7 years in prison. Mr. Cao Wenbo, Mr. Wang Xihe, and Mr. Liang Junzhi were sentenced to 3 years in prison. Ms. Lu Yulan and Ms. Xiao Hua were sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment, and Mr. Xu Yili and Ms. Zhang Guiqin were sentenced to 1.5 years.

5. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Multiple Practitioners Arrested and Detained

Ms. Li Yanping and her family had left Jilin in hopes of avoiding further persecution and went to Dalian. Officers from the Longwangtang Police Station arrested Ms. Li's son, not a practitioner, after monitoring his cell phone calls. Ms. Li was also arrested on March 6, 2012, and has been held at a detention center ever since.

Ms. Qin Shulan was arrested in June 2012 while visiting a friend. Her daughter Ms. Hou Chunli went to the Development Zone Police Station to request her mother's release and was also arrested. Ms. Hou was force-fed and beaten in detention.

Ms. Zhang Lina, born in 1975, was arrested on July 6, 2012. She is being held at the No. 8 Ward of the Dalian Detention Center.

Mr. Pei Zhenbo was arrested on July 6, 2012.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Wan Xiaohui Arrested; Whereabouts Unknown

Mr. Wan Xiaohui was arrested on July 17, 2012. His whereabouts are unknown.

7. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Li Xiaojing and Ms. Guan Yaqing Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor

Ms. Li Xiaojing and Ms. Guan Yaqing were each sentenced to one year of forced labor.

8. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Sufang Arrested

Ms. Wang Sufang, 61, was arrested by two officers on August 9, 2012, and taken to the Nanzhan Police Station in the Xinfu District.

Ms. Wang used to be an officer at the Fushun Police Department. However, after she went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, she was detained by the same police department. Ms. Wang was sentenced to 3 years in prison at the end of November 2001. She was incarcerated in the Liaoning Province Women's Prison.

9. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Fengmei in Critical Condition at Liaoning Province Women's Prison

Liaoning Province Women's Prison recently told Ms. Liu Fengmei's husband to visit Ms. Liu. When the family went to the prison, they found out that Ms. Liu was very sick. She had developed two tumors on her uterine adnexa and a swelling mass on her breast. She also suffered from excessive menstrual bleeding that continued for a long time and severe anemia. Some time after the visit, Ms. Liu was transferred from the prison hospital to a regular hospital.

10. [Hailin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Wang Chunyan and Mr. Zhang Arrested

About 8 officers from the Machang Police Station in Shanshi Town, Hailin, led by director Liu Xiangquan, arrested Ms. Wang Chunyan on the morning of August 8, 2012. The police took her picture and videotaped her, and then detained her at the Mishan Agricultural Reclamation Farm.

The police also arrested Mr. Zhang and detained him at the Mishan Agricultural Reclamation Farm.

11. [Xi'an City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Duan Yue'e Taken to a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Duan Yue'e, 73, was followed and arrested while distributing Falun Gong informational materials on August 2, 2012. Her home was ransacked. According to her family, Ms. Duan was taken to a brainwashing center.

12. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Mr. Bai Hongyuan's Whereabouts Unknown after Arrest

Mr. Bai Hongyuan was arrested on August 7, 2012. His whereabouts are unknown.

13. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Wang Youjiang and Ms. Chen Shuxian Missing

Mr. Wang Youjiang and Ms. Chen Shuxian lost contact with their family at the end of June, 2012. Their whereabouts are currently unknown.

14. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Jiangxi Province Women's Prison Deprives Daughter of Seeing Her Mother

Ms. Zhou Meili's youngest daughter traveled from Jiujiang City to Nanchang City several times, trying to visit her mother, who is incarcerated at the Jiangxi Province Women's Prison. However, the prison guards offered innumerable excuses and did not allow her to see her mom.

15. [Yongkang City, Zhejiang Province] Mr. Shi Guanxian, His Wife and Another Practitioner Arrested

Officers from the Yongkang Domestic Security Division and 610 Office broke into Mr. Shi Guanxian's home on the afternoon of August 9, 2012. The police ransacked Mr. Shi's home and confiscated a computer, a printer, a cell phone, and other personal belongings. They arrested Mr. Shi, his wife Ms. Ru Guiyin, and another woman who was visiting at the time.

16. [Leizhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Su Feichao and Ms. Chen Feiren Arrested

Ms. Su Feichao and Ms. Chen Feiren from Tujiao Village, Fucheng Town, were arrested and taken to the Shentang Police Station on the afternoon of August 3, 2012. They were transferred to the Fucheng Police Station the next day.

17. [Pingjiang County, Hunan Province] Ms. Mao Douhua Arrested and Detained Twice

Zhong Zhufeng from the Nanjiang Town 610 Office, Fang Lang from the Nanjiang Police Station, and several other officers ransacked the homes of seven practitioners on April 18, 2012. Zhong Zhufeng, together with Huang Paodong, deputy director of the Nanjiang Police Station, and several other officers also broke into the homes of Mr. Ouyang Zhengran, Ms. Mao Douhua, and Mr. Chen Guangming in the middle of the night on May 2, 2012. The police officers confiscated personal belongings and arrested Ms. Mao and Ms. Chen. The two practitioners were held at the Pingjiang Detention Center, but released after more than one month of detention.

Not soon after Ms. Mao returned home on July 19, 2012, Xu Qiwen, an officer from the Pingjiang Domestic Security Division, and several others broke into her home and arrested her again. Ms. Mao was locked in the interrogation room of the Pingjiang Domestic Security Division and later taken to a local detention center, where she is still held.

18. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Yang Mei Not Released When Prison Term Expired

Ms. Yang Mei from Xishui County, Hubei Province, was released from the Hubei Women's Forced Labor Camp on April 13, 2009. However, she was arrested again on September 25, 2010, by officers from the Fengyang Police Station in the Haizhu District. On October 4, 2011, she was sentenced to 21 months of forced labor and taken to the Chatou Women's Forced Labor Camp.

Ms. Yang's prison term was due to expire at the end of June 2012. However, she was not released. Officers from the Hubei 610 Office transferred her to the Hubei Women's Forced Labor Camp in early June for further persecution.

19. [Jianyang County, Hubei Province] Ms. Diao Jixiu Taken to a Brainwashing Center

Ms. Diao Jixiu, in her 60s, was arrested by officers from the Jianyang County 610 Office on August 9, 2012. The 610 Office personnel ransacked Ms. Diao's home after 9 p.m. that night. They confiscated printer paper belonging to Ms. Diao's son. Ms. Diao is being held at the Er'ehu's Brainwashing center.

According to a source, 610 Office personnel had been staying on the third floor of the building where Ms. Diao's home is for about eight months, and they arrested about eight practitioners in total during that period.

20. [Guang'an City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Chaoxiu and Ms. Xiang Tianxiu Detained

Ms. Wang Chaoxiu and Ms. Xiang Tianxiu were recently detained and are being held at the Huaying Detention Center.

21. [Yanshou County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Lan Bo Detained

Mr. Lan Bo, 48, was arrested by chief Zhao Xiaodong and officer Zheng Songlin from the Yanshou Domestic Security Division on the morning of July 22, 2012. The police ransacked Mr. Lan's home and took him to the Harbin No. 2 Detention Center.
