(Minghui.org) Ms. Man Qiuju, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Changchun, Jilin Province, has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and rendered homeless for many years. Ms. Man's 89-year-old father passed away in late July 2012. The family decided to transfer the property rights of their house from Ms. Man's mother to Ms. Man, so on August 7, 2012, the family went to the Xisantiao Police Station of Kuancheng District to apply for Ms. Man's certificate of residence registration. Wang Longquan, a local police officer detained Ms. Man's mother, and the family members who accompanied her. He also used threats to pressure Ms. Man's family into writing a guarantee statement promising to give up her practice of Falun Gong. Due to the stress and detention, her mother, previously healthy, became very weak and had difficulty walking on her own.
The details of the story are as follows:
Ms. Man's mother is 84 years old. Her husband passed away in late July 2012 after 68 years of happy marriage. Ms. Man Qiuju is the oldest daughter, and the family decided to transfer her mother's house into Ms. Man's name, which required her certificate of residence registration. On August 7, 2012, her mother, accompanied by family members, went to the Xisantiao Police Station of Kuancheng District to apply for the certificate.
At the police station, officer Wang Longquan demanded that the family coerce Ms. Man into writing a guarantee statement promising to give up practicing Falun Gong. The officer detained them at the police station from one to four o'clock that afternoon. The police also threatened the family with Ms. Man's arrest. The family was released at 4:00 p.m., however officers followed them home where they continued to harass and threaten the family.
Ms. Man's mother was already emotionally distraught, trying to cope with the loss of her husband. Officer Wang Longquan closely followed the CCP policy of persecuting Falun Gong. He exploited the situation, placing additional pressure on her and her family. Ms. Man's mother used to grow and sell flowers, and was known to enjoy good health. After her detention and harassment at the police station, her health began to drastically worsen and she had difficulty walking on her own.
The Xisantiao Police Station has persecuted Falun Gong practitioners since July 20, 1999, and arrested many local practitioners this year. In April alone, many practitioners including Wang Lijie and Xiao Hou were arrested. Ms. Wang Xiuge, almost 70 years old and living alone, was frequently harassed and threatened by local police.
Wang Longquan has been a police officer at the Xisantiao Police Station for nearly ten years, and has actively and voluntarily participated in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. He ordered personnel from the local neighborhood committee to coerce practitioners into filling out so-called “evil cult cards.” He also forced practitioners to tear down the truth clarification signs posted around town by other practitioners. Practitioners tried to explain the facts about Falun Gong to him on multiple occasions, but he always refused to listen, claiming that it was merely his job and he was following orders from his superior officer. Every year, many practitioners within his jurisdiction are arrested, detained, and harassed. In fact, the harassment of practitioners at their homes is now a routine drill for the police.
Man Qiuju Arrested, Forced into Homeless Life
Ms. Man was previously arrested on multiple occasions by officers from the Xisantiao Police Station. She was forced into a homeless life to avoid further persecution. The local police chief frequently led a group of officers to her home to harass her family, pounding loudly on the front door. During holidays and specifically the New Year period, several officers broke into and ransacked the home, even when only Ms. Man's child was home alone. The officers also occupied her home for several days in an attempt to arrest Ms. Man.
On December 5, 2009, Ms. Man was renting a place out-of-town in order to avoid arrest. Zhang Haixian, head of the Dongchaoyang North Neighborhood Committee under the Yongchang Street Bureau, Changyang District of Changchun, Jilin Province, went to Ms. Man's rental place to collect a sanitation fee. Ms. Man tried to clarify the truth to her and persuade her to quit the CCP and its associated organizations. Zhang Haixia deceptively agreed to quit the CCP, however she immediately reported Ms. Man to the Chaoyang District Police Department.
On the evening of December 7, 2009, Zhang and six officers from Chaoyang District Police Department and Dongchaoyang Street Police Station went to Ms. Man's rental place. They ransacked the place, then confiscated her personal belongings and over 4,000 yuan in cash. Ms. Man was arrested and taken to the Dongchaoyang Street Police Station. She managed to escape at approximately 11:00 p.m.
The next day, local police went to Ms. Man's home intending to arrest her again. Under these circumstances, Ms. Man was forced to flee and become homeless once again.
