Additional Persecution News from China – August 9, 2012 (22 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from mainland China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 20 cities or counties and in 12 provinces. According to this report, 18 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 17 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Chen Tianfu Persecuted in Brainwashing Center

Mr. Chen Tianfu from Qinglongchang was arrested by agents from the Chenghua District 610 Office on July 20, 2012, and taken to Xinjin Brainwashing Center. He was persecuted there for 7 days and released on the afternoon of July 27.

Ms. Han Xinyan from the Development Zone was arrested on July 6, 2012. Her house was ransacked. Her three computers, one printer, five mobile phones, 50,000 yuan of employees' wages, and several bank cards were confiscated.

3. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Fanli Arrested and Her House Ransacked

Ms. Li Fanli was arrested at a train station on the morning of August 7, 2012. Officers from Quancheng Road Police Station and Domestic Security Division then went to her house to search it. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, a printer, a computer, and 40,000 yuan in cash. Her husband, Mr. Chen Guangchang, and her daughter were taken away with her and released on August 8. But Ms. Li is being held at the Zhangzhuang Detention Center.

4. [Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province] Ms. Ding Zhenying Arrested

Ms. Ding Zhenying, 65, was arrested by officers from Xueqian Street Police Station on June 30, 2012, for distributing truth clarification materials, and her house was searched. She was held in the Wuxi No. 2 Detention Center and later sentenced to one year at Judong Women's Forced Labor Camp, but officials at the labor camp refused to accept her. The police then wanted to send her to Yixing Forced Labor Camp, but her family refused to sign the documents.

Ms. Ding was persecuted in Wuxi Detention Center in June 2001 when she was arrested for distributing truth clarification materials. She was also detained in Wuxi Brainwashing Center for 40 days in 2003.

5. [Dazhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Wang Yongxiu Arrested and Taken to Brainwashing Center on August 6, 2012.

6. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] More Information on Ms. Yu Shumei's Arrest

Ms. Yu Shumei from the Sujiatun District was arrested by officers from Linsheng Police Station in Sujiatun on August 7, 2012, while distributing Falun Gong informational materials. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her two Falun Gong books and a computer.

7. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Jin Miaoqing, Mr. Jiang Derong, and Ms. Song Li Illegally Arrested

Mr. Jin Miaoqing, Mr. Jiang Derong, and Mr. Zhang Zenghai were illegally arrested at the home of Mr. Zhang's son on August 7, 2012, while they were installing a satellite dish. Officers from Donghai Police Department grabbed Mr. Zhang's house keys and ransacked his home. His money and computer were confiscated. Mr. Zhang's wife and another practitioner, Ms. Zu Jinghua, were arrested at the time and both were later released.

Mr. Zhang was released because he had a heart attack. Mr. Jiang was found to have symptoms of pleurisy. Mr. Jin's wife was illegally detained because she went to the police station to ask them to release her husband. Mr. Jiang and Mr. Jin and his wife, Ms. Song Li, are still detained.

8. [Xinhuang County, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Dongyue and Ms. Yang Yanduan Arrested

Ms. Yang Dongyue and Ms. Yang Yanduan from Xinhuang County, Huaihua City, were arrested on August 6, 2012, for telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Ms. Yang Yanduan is being held in a detention center.

9. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Mr. Liu Zaifu Arrested and Fined

Mr. Liu Zaifu from North Mengjiagou Village, Xicheng Town, was arrested and had 5000 yuan extorted from him by five officers from Xicheng Town Police Station on April 4, 2012. Mr. Liu has been harassed many times.

10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] More Information on Mr. Sun Shibin's Persecution

Mr. Sun Shibin is a math teacher at Affiliated Middle School of the Northeast Teacher's University. He has been arrested many times and is now nearly blind. Since he was released from prison, he often has spasms.

Mr. Sun had a stroke and has been incontinent since 2011. He is unable to look after himself anymore, but the local police still harassed him often. On July 31, the police came again, which made his symptoms worse.

Ms. Zhang Guizhen from the Zhongyuan Oil Field was arrested on the morning of August 3, 2012, while she was distributing truth clarification DVDs. In the afternoon, the police from Zhongyuan oilfield Domestic Security Division ransacked her home. Her daughter, Ms. Zhang Xiaojun, and her school-age granddaughter were arrested. Ms. Zhang Guizhen and her granddaughter were released in the evening, but Ms. Zhang Xiaojun was held at Huangpu Detention Center.

Mr. Li Wendong, Mr. Zhang Guochen, Mr. Yue Changcun, Mr. Yang Zheng, and Mr. Gao Zhaochen were to be tried in Zhengzhuangzi Town Central Court in the Kaiping District on August 10, 2012.

14. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Xuefang to Be Detained 7 Days

Ms. Wang Xuefang from Qingdao City was arrested by officers from the Jinmen Road Police Station while she was working in the shop on the morning of August 7, 2012. Her home and the shop was ransacked. She was taken to Dashan Detention Center on the evening of August 8 to be held there for 7 days.

15. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wu Ruixiang's Family Threatened

Mr. Wu Ruixiang from Nanguan Village, Chengguan Town, Li County, was taken to the second team of Handan City Forced Labor Camp on the evening of April 23, 2012. The camp authorities threatened his family that they would no longer be allowed a monthly if Mr. Wu continued to refuse to renounce his belief.

16. [Xingning City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Chen Yufang Taken to Sanshui Brainwashing Center

Ms. Chen Yufang from Longtian Town, Xingning City, was arrested by officers from the Xingning Police Department on June 14, 2012, for distributing truth clarification materials. The police ransacked her home and confiscated an MP3 player. She was held in Xingning Detention Center. She recently called that she had been transferred to Sanshui Brainwashing Center.

17. [Zunyi City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Li Xianying and Another Practitioner Arrested

Ms. Li Xianying and another practitioner were arrested and their homes were ransacked by officers from Chitianhua Police Department on the afternoon of August 7, 2012. That evening the other practitioner was released, but Ms. Li was still detained. Ms. Li was sentenced to three years in Guizhou Women's Forced Labor Camp.

18. [Xishui County, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Qi and Her Daughter and Granddaughter Arrested

Ms. Zhou Qi, over 50, is from Xishui County. She was arrested by police officer Guo Jianli on August 8, 2012. Ms. Zhou's non-practitioner daughter and 3-year-old granddaughter were also arrested. The police ransacked her home and confiscated her computer and some cash.

Ms. Zhou and her husband, Mr. Zhang Yuejin, had been sentenced to 5 years in a forced labor camp. They were released over a year ago.

19. [Yuxi City, Yunnan Province] More Information on Mr. Wang Wei's Arrest

Mr. Wang Wei, about 48, is employed at the Yuxi National Tax Bureau. He was arrested at his office by over ten officers from the Hongta District Domestic Security Division on the morning of July 25, 2012. Mr. Wang's office and home were ransacked. His computer, mobile phone, three MP3 players, Falun Gong books, DVDs, and other materials, valued at over 5,000 yuan, were confiscated. Mr. Wang was transferred to Hongta District Detention Center that same afternoon.

Ms. Mao Xiuqing from the Xindu District was arrested by officers from Chengxi Police Station on August 6 for distributing truth clarification materials.

22. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Gao Suzhen Arrested

Ms. Gao Suzhen from Xiaojiaying Village was arrested on August 7, 2012. Her husband and two other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested with her. Her husband was later released.
