(Minghui.org) “Falun Dafa is great! Falun Dafa is great!” The firm, clear voice could be heard outside Yantai Detention Center in Shandong Province, touching people's hearts. Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Meijuan called out, trying to express her resistance to the physical abuse, hard labor, and the detention center's unreasonable demands. She was also demanding her legal rights and, by doing so, trying to awaken people's conscience.

Ms. Yang Meijuan and her husband were arrested at home early on the morning of April 11, 2012.

More than 10 officers from Longgang Police Station climbed over a wall and entered the couple's home to make the arrest. The police also confiscated their bank book, cash, household appliances, and other personal belongings, valued at more than 100,000 yuan. That same night Ms. Yang was sent to the Yantai Detention Center and her husband to the Longkou Detention Center.

We recently learned that Ms. Yang was severely beaten by guard Sun Yan. Sun instructed inmates to shackle Ms. Yang to a metal bed in a spread-eagle position, so that she was unable to move. They then ruthlessly hit her. Due to the intensity of the beating, Ms. Yang swelled up and was sore and in pain for many days before she recovered. As a form of torture, the guards also forced her to sit on a small plastic stool for 3 days without moving.

The detention center officials force detainees to do hard labor 16 hours per day. The guards curse and beat anyone they feel is slacking off even a bit. Ms. Yang resisted and protested this hard labor with a hunger strike. The guards force-fed her, which led to gastric bleeding. She was pale and had no strength. When her lawyer visited her, the guards whispered to him, “Can she even walk out of the door,” which meant that Ms. Yang had difficulty walking. Ms. Yang's father is in his 80s. He is very worried about his daughter and hopes she can return home soon.
