19 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Sweep by 610 Office in Jimo City, Qingdao

(Minghui.org) At 6:30 a.m. on the morning of August 1, 2012, the 610 Office in Jimo City in Qingdao gathered local police together. At around 8 a.m., they began a large scale operation and arrested at least 19 practitioners.

It is known that the Domestic Security Bureau in the Jimo City Police Department has been tapping the phones for a long time. The local police started to harass practitioners nearly a month ago. They went to practitioners' homes to check on them. The police also had a special meeting the day before.

At about 8 a.m. on August 1, in a residential district in Jimo City, Wei Yanzhang, who is the instructor for the 3^rd group of the security division, and more than ten police officers barged into the home of Jiang Dahai. They arrested 13 practitioners who were studying the teachings of Falun Dafa together. They ransacked the home for the next two hours. They took the practitioners' cell phones, searched them, then removed all the computers, printers, and DVDs from the home.

The 13 practitioners are: Jiang Dahai, Wang Qiuhong (owner of the ransacked home), Jiang Jing, Zhou Yunying, Li Ruiying, Zhao Yingxiang, Sun Chengle, Wang Lixia, Liu Xiuling, Ms. Zou (75 years old), and Little Sun and her sister, as well as a boy.

That same day, other practitioners were arrested, including Su Wen, director for the post office in Jimo City, and his, wife Sui Juanru, and Wang Wei and his father, Xu Baozhen. The police confiscated more than 30 printers from the three families, in addition to three van loads of all kinds of truth-clarification materials and blank paper. The practitioners' whereabouts are currently unknown. They might be at the Mashan Police Station or the Longshan Police Station. It was said that the security division arranged for them to be watched all night long to prevent them from sleeping and interrogated them. After Xu Baozhen and his wife, Zou Conghui, were arrested, they were taken to the Clothing Market Police Station. Their whereabouts are currently unknown.

After the 13 practitioners were arrested, their families were stunned. On August 3, 2012, they visited the Jimo City Detention Station, asking to see their practitioner relatives. Permission to see them was not granted. Outside of the police department, they asked to see Wei Yanzhang, who was in charge of the case, hoping to clarify the truth to him. They wanted to see their relatives in the detention station and wanted to take them home. However, after the policemen on duty at the gate asked the third group of the security division, he said, “Our supervisor said you can go anywhere else you want to to ask for help.”

Jiang Jing and Sun Chengle have already returned home. The practitioner with the last name of Liu was diagnosed with end stage liver cancer, and elderly Ms. Zou was also found to be ill. They were both released. The boy escaped from a police department restroom and became homeless to avoid further persecution. Jiang Dahai and Wang Qiuhong were secretly detained alone. The other six practitioners are being held in the Jimo City Detention Station.

Last fall, Ms. Jiang Xiujie went to Mohe Park in Jimo City to clarify the truth and was arrested. While she was detained in the Jimo City Detention Station, she was injected with drugs that damage the nervous system. For a period of time she became mentally disordered. She gradually recovered a month after she was released.

People in Jimo City implore those both inside and outside of China to pay close attention to this case and ask the police to unconditionally release all the practitioners.
