(Minghui.org) On the eve of the 13th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) massive persecution of Falun Gong, the City of Livingston, New Jersey, passed a resolution condemning the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong and calling for the US Government to do its utmost to stop the atrocities in China.
RESOLUTION CALLING FOR ACTION TO HELP STOP THE PERSECUTION OF FALUN DAFA PRACTITIONERS IN CHINA
WHEREAS, Falun Dafa, also commonly called Falun Gong, is a traditional spiritual practice of the Buddhist school that involves meditation exercises and a moral philosophy centered on the values of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance; and
WHEREAS, Falun Dafa is considered to be a form of spiritual exercise that draws energy to the body in order to maintain health and a peaceful approach to life; and
WHEREAS, Falun Dafa practitioners are people of all social background, races, religions, and age groups; and
WHEREAS, the practice has continually grown in popularity and is now practiced in over 100 countries; and
WHEREAS, 2012 marks 13 years of continued persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party, by which practitioners of Falun Gong in China have been labeled cultists, persecuted, arrested, beaten and treated inhumanely; and
WHEREAS, the United States Government is on record as “deeply disturbed” by reports that China has further intensified its harsh repression of Falun Gong adherents;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Municipal Council of the Township of Livingston, Essex County, New Jersey, that full support be given to those who follow the peaceful example of Falun Gong members, that any harsh brutal and repressive practices of the Chinese Government against Falun Gong followers be condemned, and that the federal government do everything in its power to help stop the atrocities in China.
