(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 22 cities or counties in 15 provinces. In this report, 16 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 28 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhen Xiuqin's Daughter Harassed
Director of the Daqing Technician Institute 610 Office repeatedly harassed Ms. Zhen Xiuqin's daughter, attempting to force her to sign a guarantee statement to renounce Falun Gong on behalf of Ms. Zhen.

2. [Linquan City, Anhui Province] Ms. Liu Suqin Tortured in Prison
Ms. Liu Suqin, former employee of the Linquan Xieji Supply Group, was arrested by police in March 2011, while she spoke to people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Funan County Detention Center. Officials from the Funan County Police Department and the local 610 Office, Domestic Security Division, Political and Legal Affairs Committee, and court colluded to sentence Ms. Suqin to 3 years in prison. She was sent to the Suxian County Women's Prison and detained in Ward No. 9 on October 10, 2011. She currently suffers from high blood pressure and headaches as a result of having been tortured in the prison.
3. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Xiu Arrested
Ms. Chen Xiu was arrested on April 15, 2012.
4. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] 610 Office Officials Attempt to Arrest Ms. Liu Chunxia
Liu Shunchao, director of Baoqing County 610 Office, and officers from the Baoqing County Police Department attempted to arrest Ms. Liu Chunxia in the afternoon of April 14, 2012. However, they were unable to locate her, as she was accompanying her child to school at the time. The agents inquired about Ms. Liu's whereabouts in Xingguo Village and also visited her sister's home in Baoqing County.

5. [Gongzhuling City, Jilin Province] Ms. Lan Wude Not Released After Her Term Expired
Ms. Lan Wude was detained in Jilin Prison for the past 4 years. She was placed in solitary confinement and subjected to torture in the prison. Her term expired on April 23, 2012. However, she was not released. Officials from the Gongzhuling Shuanlong Police Station and Gongzhuling City 610 Office called her family and declared that the prison would not release her unless the family members personally came to pick her up.

6. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Many Practitioners Detained
Officers from the Dongqiao Police Station arrested Ms. Jiao Guizhen, Ms. Ji Guihua, Ms. Shang Shuqin, Mr. Guo Yanda, and Mr. Wu Shiwei in the afternoon of April 18, 2012. All practitioners have been detained in the local detention centers. The officers ransacked the homes of Mr. Guo Yanda, Mr. Wu Shiwei, and Ms. Ji Deguang the same day.
In the morning of April 19, 2012, Dongqiao Police Station agents arrested Ms. Jiang Zhi, Ms. Liu Caixia, and Ms. Liu Yuzhuo. They also went to the home of Ms. Jiao Guizhen, ransacked it and arrested her mother and her sister (not a practitioner). Ms. Jiao's mother and sister were released in the afternoon of the same day. Ms. Jiang Zhi, Ms. Liu Caixia, and Ms. Liu Yuzhuo were taken to the Dongqiao Police Station and then sent to the local detention center.
7. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. He Hongyu and Ms. Zhang Wenqing Detained
Officers from the Xinyang Road Police Station arrested Ms. He Hongyu and Ms. Zhang Wenqing from Daoli District in Harbin City in the afternoon of April 17, 2012. The practitioners are being held in the Harbin Second Detention Center.

8. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Dong Lijun Sentenced to Forced Labor
Officers from the Tieren Police Department arrested Ms. Dong Lijun from Jiefang Village about 2 weeks ago, because she carried informational brochures about Falun Gong. Officials claimed that she would be released after 15 days. However, when her family members came to the detention center to pick her up, they were told that Ms. Dong had been sentenced to one year of forced labor. At present, Ms. Dong is still being held in the detention center.
9. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Xu Shengli Detained
The local police arrested Mr. Xu Shengli from Shuiquan Township, Shuangcheng City, in the morning of April 9, 2012. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and other personal belongings from his home. Mr. Xu is being held in the Shuangcheng City Detention Center. His wife was forced to leave home to avoid getting arrested. Their child was left home without care.
10. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Yue Puling and Ms. Chen Jianru Sent to Brainwashing Center
Ms. Yue Puling, Ms. Ma Fulan and Ms. Chen Jianru were arrested on April 4, 2012, as they spoke to people about Falun Gong in Tianzhu County. Ms. Ma was released after being held in a detention center for 15 days. Ms. Yue and Ms. Chu were taken to the Honggu District Haishiwan Domestic Security Division. Li Ling, chief of the Haishiwan Domestic Security Division, then sent them to the Gongjiawan Brainwashing Center.

11. [Huailai County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Xinghai Detained
Mr. Wang Xinghai, in his 40s, from Ruiyunguan Township, was reported to the authorities and arrested by the local police on April 15, 2012. He is being held in the Huailai County Detention Center.
12. [Gongyi City, Henan Province] Ms. Shan Shufang Detained
Ms. Gong Shufang from Xicun Village, Gongyi City, was reported to the authorities for speaking to people about Falun Gong in the afternoon of April 18, 2012. Liu Zhihui, deputy director of the Xicun Village Police Station, arrested her. Officers from the Gongyi City Domestic Security Division transferred her to the Gongyi Detention Center at around 11 p.m. the same day. At present, she is still detained there.

13. [Qidong City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Peng Hesheng Sent to Brainwashing Center
In December 2011, local police deceived Mr. Peng Hesheng, in his 60s, to open the door with the claim of needing to take a picture for his ID. Then they sent him to the Qidong Yujiao Brainwashing Center.
In 2009, officials from the Shanghai 610 Office and the Qidong 610 Office arrested Mr. Peng and sentenced him to 2 years of forced labor. Later, he was released on medical parole due to bad health. However, during the parole, he was arrested again and sent to a brainwashing center. He was released in October 2011.

14. [Penglai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yin Xiuxiang Facing Trial
Ms. Yin Xiuxiang was reported to the police and arrested while she distributed Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs to people on February 17, 2012. She has been held in the Yantai Detention Center. Penglai City Court had scheduled her trial for April 16, 2012, but then delayed it to the morning of April 23, 2012.

15. [Dingzhou City, Hebei Province] Mr. Sun Ruixi and His Wife Arrested
Officers from the Liuzao Town Police Station came to Mr. Sun Ruixi's home on September 10, 2010, and ransacked it. They also attempted to arrest Mr. Sun, but he managed to escape and went into exile. One year later, police broke into Mr. Sun's home and arrested his wife. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor and sent to the Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp.
Mr. Sun came back home occasionally to take care of his elderly parents. He was arrested by the police monitoring his home around 4 a.m. on April 7, 2012. His current whereabouts are unknown.
On the same day, police also broke into the home of Mr. Peng Zhanguo, in his 70s, in Beigaojiu Village. Officers ransacked his home and confiscated a computer and a printer. They extorted 1,000 yuan from Mr. Peng's family before releasing him.
16. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Wu Jiajun Detained; Family Not Allowed to Visit
Mr. Wu Jiajun has been detained in the Laizhou Detention Center for more than 50 days. Officials refuse to release him or let his family visit him.

17. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yuan Xiulan and Ms. Shan Meirong Detained
Ms. Yuan Xiulan and Ms. Shan Meirong from Yangkou Town, Shouguang City, have been held in a detention center. Officers from the local Domestic Security Division and police station ransacked their homes.
18. [Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Lizhen Arrested
Ms. Xu Lizhen from Xigouzi Village, Biguo Town, was arrested at home in the evening of April 17, 2012.
19. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Dai Meilan Sent to Guangzhou Women's Prison
Officers from the Luohu Police Department arrested Ms. Dai Meilan on April 24, 2011. Two months later, Peng Zhengrong, deputy director of Luohu Court, sentenced her to 3 years in prison. Ms. Dai's family was not allowed to visit her in a detention center, where she was held for nearly a year. On April 13, 2012, Ms. Dai was transferred to Guangzhou Women's Prison.
20. [Zhanzhou City, Fujian Province] Ms. Wang Xiuzhi Detained for Three Days
Police broke into Ms. Wang Xiuzhi's home and arrested her in the afternoon of March 30, 2012. Ms. Wang was taken to the Zhicheng Police Department, where she was confined in a steel cage and interrogated. Eight police officers took turns watching her around the clock. Officials threatened her before releasing her in the afternoon of April 2, 2012.
21. [Wuhai City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wei Xingzhi Brutally Tortured in Wuhai Women's Prison
Ms. Wei Xingzhi, in her 60s, was brutally tortured in Wuhai Women's Prison by guard Xiang Ling and others, as the guards attempted to force her to renounce her faith in Falun Gong. She was deprived of meals, water, restroom use, and sleep. In addition, she was forced to stand barefoot for several days and nights in cold winter. Her feet became swollen and her legs could not bend. She has become emaciated as a result of the abuse.
Prison guard Yang Sisi harassed Ms. Deng Tianyu, who is in her 60s. Prison guard Jiang Fan forced practitioners to perform slave labor overtime. He punished practitioners who refused to work overtime and forced them to stand until 10 p.m. daily.
22. [Hengyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Tang Xiaofeng Detained
Officers from the Zhengxiang Police Station arrested Ms. Tang Xiaofeng on April 17, 2012, as she spoke to people about Falun Gong and distributed Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs. She is being detained in the Baishazhou area.

23. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Detained
Ms. Wei Zhihong, Ms. Xu Changlan, and Ms. Cong were reported to police and arrested in the afternoon of April 19, 2012, as they distributed Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs in Ganjingzi District. Officers from the Paoya Police Station sent them to the Yaojia Detention Center.

24. [Tumen City, Jilin Province] Mr. Gao Shilin Arrested
Mr. Gao Shilin was arrested at a market on April 18, 2012.
25. [Lingshou County, Hebei Province] Ms. Lu Fenglian Arrested
Ms. Lu Fenglian was arrested by officers from the Sanshengyuan Township Police Station on April 19, 2012, when she posted informational materials about Falun Gong. Police confiscated her personal belongings.
26. [Changle County, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Fengying, Her Daughter, and Ms. Tian Ruizhen Arrested
Police officers from the Changle Domestic Security Division arrested Ms. Li Fengying and Ms. Tian Ruizhen in the morning of April 19, 2012, while the two practitioners spoke to people about Falun Gong. Subsequently, police ransacked the practitioners' homes and arrested Ms. Li's daughter.
27. [Ya'an City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Lu Zhizhen Detained for More Than a Month
Ms. Lu Zhizhen was arrested and sent to the Caoba Police Station in the evening of March 15, 2012. Later, she was transferred to the Ya'an Duoying Detention Center, where she has been detained for more than a month.
28. [Ya'an City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zhang Suzhen Detained
Ms. Zhang Suzhen is a resident of Longgang Village, DuiYan Town, Yucheng District, Ya'an City. She was arrested on her way home from work in the afternoon of April 18, 2012. Around 9 p.m. the same day, officers from the Ya'an Police Department, including division chief Kang Hua, and officers from the Duiyan Town Police Department, including director Yang Kang—a total of 8 officers—ransacked her home and threatened her family members. Ms. Zhang was transferred to the Ya'an Duoying Detention Center on April 19, 2012.
