Additional Persecution News from China – May 8, 2012 (20 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in 11 provinces. In this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 26 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Huhehaote, Inner Mongolia] Ms. Wu Xueqing Passed Away in 2005 as a Result of the Persecution

Ms. Wu Xueqing was a senior teacher in Huhehaote City. She went to Tiananmen Square to clarify the facts about Falun Gong in 2004. However, she was arrested by the Beijing police and escorted to Huhehaote. She was then illegally sentenced and detained in the Inner Mongolia Women's Prison, where she was forced to do slave labor. As a result of the persecution, she became blind. She passed away in 2005, when she was about 50 years old.

2. [Yunnan Province] Many Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested

Many Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on May 4 and 5, 2012, including Ms. Cai Wenhui, Mr. Ye Baofu and two of his family members, Ms. Kong Shiying, Mr. Li Qipeng from Kaiyuan, and Mr. Lao Dai. The practitioners' homes were also ransacked.

Ms. Kong was taken away on the afternoon of May 5, 2012 and released at 6 p.m. the same day.

3. [Jianshui County, Yunnan Province] Six Practitioners Arrested

Officers from the Jianshui Domestic Security Division and the Jianshui 610 Office ransacked the homes of Mr. Ma Xuyong, Mr. Wang Hui, Ms. Yang Liwen, and three other Falun Gong practitioners on May 4, 2012. All six practitioners were arrested.

4. [Huainan, Anhui Province] Mr. Zhou Arrested

Mr. Zhou, in his 50s, was arrested by police while making Falun Gong materials in April 2012.

5. [Tangshan, Hebei Province] Ms. Ma Guifen Arrested

When Ms. Ma Guifen from Huayuan Township, Qianxi, Tangshan, went to visit her relatives on May 6, 2012, she went to a farmers' market in Dawuli, Qianan, to distribute Falun Gong brochures. She was videotaped by officers from the Dawuli Police Station and arrested. She was taken to the Qianan Domestic Security Division around 11 a.m on that day.

Since the Chinese Communist Party began to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in 1999, Ms. Ma has been arrested three times. She was often harassed by authorities and left home, becoming homeless, in the effort to avoid further persecution.

6. [Handan, Hebei Province] Mr. Tong Ruiqin Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

Mr. Tong Ruiqin was sentenced to seven years in prison and sent to the Xinmi Prison in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.

7. [Dingxing County, Hebei Province] Mr. Wang Zhigang Harassed

On April 5, 2012, Xu Baozhong, Party secretary of Sanjie Village, Gucheng Town, Dingxing, went to Mr. Wang Zhigang's home to harass him. He intended to deceive Mr. Wang into going to a brainwashing center. After Mr. Wang refused to comply, Xu called agents to ransack Mr. Wang's home.

8. [Changsha, Hunan Province] Mr. Li Xuangang Detained

Mr. Li Xuangang has been detained in the Chibi Detention Center.

9. [Suizhong, Liaoning Province] Ms. Tan Yuxia, Ms. Li Suqin, and Ms. Li Yonghua Detained

Ms. Tan Yuxia, Ms. Li Suqin, and Ms. Li Yonghua were reported to police while they clarified the facts about Falun Gong in Sanshan Farmers' Market in Fanjia Township, Suizhong, on May 6, 2012. They were arrested by the Suizhong police and have been detained in Huludao.

10. [Mancheng County, Hebei Province] Ms. Tang Junduo and Ms. Liu Yuzhi Detained

Ms. Tang Junduo and Ms. Liu Yuzhi from Liangyu Village, Yaozhuang Township, Mancheng, were arrested by officers from the Yaozhuang Police Station on their way to Huang Village to distribute Falun Gong informaton on the morning of May 6, 2012. The two practitioners were sent to the Mancheng Detention Center that afternoon.

11. [Harbin, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Chen Rong and His Wife Arrested

Mr. Chen Rong and his wife from Hulan District, Harbin, were arrested by patrol officers from the Guangming Police Station while they distributed Shen Yun Performing Arts DVDs on the afternoon of May 3, 2012. They are being detained in the 7^th Division of the Harbin Police Department.

12. [Jinzhou, Liaoning Province] Mr. Chen Xin Tortured in Jinzhou Prison

Guards in the Jinzhou Prison tortured Mr. Chen Xin by tiger bench, sleep deprivation, and other means in order to force him to give up practicing Falun Gong. Other Falun Gong practitioners detained in the Jinzhou Prison have been detained at the “education” division for forcible “transformation.”

13. [Dandong, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhao Yunxiang Arrested

Ms. Zhao Yunxiang, about 70 years old, from Gushan Town, Dagushan Economic Developing District, Dandong, was arrested by officers from the Dagushan Police Department and the Dandong Domestic Security Division while she talked to people about Falun Gong on the afternoon of May 7, 2012. She is being detained in the Dagushan Police Department.

14. [Pingdu, Shandong Province] Ms. Guo Xiuhua's Family Harassed

On May 6, 2012, officers from the Zhugou Police Station in Pingdu rushed into the home of Ms. Guo Xiuhua's brother in Shantou Village to harass and inquire about Ms. Guo.

15. [Xiangyang, Hubei Province] Ms. Li Ying's Home Ransacked

Seven or eight plainclothes policemen from the Wangfu Police Station in Xiangyang District, Xiangyang, came to Ms. Li Ying's home in Honghuayuan on the night of April 27, 2012. Ms. Li was not home at that time. The police threatened her son to open the door. Ms. Li's son had just gotten married, and the young couple lived with Ms. Li. Although Ms. Li's son tried to stop the police from entering, the officers entered the home through force and confiscated the young couple's computer.

16. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Guilan and Ms. Li Yuzhen Arrested

Ms. Li Guilan and Ms. Li Yuzhen from Guangming Community, Kuancheng District, were arrested by police while they were talking to people about Falun Gong and distributing Falun Gong materials on the afternoon of May 3, 2012.

17. [Pengzhou, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zeng Shenming Arrested

Mr. Zeng Shenming from Dahan Village, Mengyang Town, was arrested by officers from the Mengyang 610 Office on the morning of May 5, 2012.

18. [Baoding, Hebei Province] Ms. Wang Manhong Detained

Ms. Wang Manhong was arrested by officers from the Hanzhuang Police Station in Baoding on May 5, 2012. The police subsequently issued the arrest document and submitted it to the Nanshi District Procuratorates for approval. Ms. Wang is being detained in the Baoding Detention Center.

19. [Jinshi, Hunan Province] Four Practitioners Arrested

Mr. Hu Xinyuan, Ms. Liu Qingxiu, Mr. Zhou Zeyu, and Ms. Gong Dexiu were arrested by the Jinshi Police Department on September 5, 2011. The Jinshi Procuratorate has brought a lawsuit against them.

20. [Shanghai] Ms. Zhuang Wei Facing Illegal Trial

According to reports, the Pudong Court planned to bring Ms. Zhuang Wei to trial on the morning of May 14, 2012. She was arrested by Yu Hui from the Pudong Domestic Security Division on December 13, 2011. She has been detained in the 7^th Division of Pudong Detention Center.
