(Minghui.org) While at my job one day in July 1999, I was summoned to a conference room where many government officials were present and seated around a table. The general manager greeted me and said that those who were present were all leaders from the Bureau. He said, “The reason they are here is because you practice Falun Gong. Please don’t be so stubborn, quit Falun Gong since the government prohibits it.”
“May I say something?” I sat down and said, “I started practicing Falun Gong in July 1996. At that time, I was taking medicine because of a stomach problem and headaches caused by compression of my neck. I also had a nervous breakdown, and was so nauseous that I could not eat much at all. After practicing Falun Gong for just three days, I no longer needed the medicine at all. I became very energetic at work. Falun Gong practitioners follow the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” At work, I don’t fight or compete with others for personal gain, and do the best job that I can.”
I went on to say, “Let me give you an example. A faucet was broken in my dormitory and a lot of water was wasted, so I bought a faucet and fixed it. Another time I received a counterfeit 50 yuan bill, but I did not try to spend it. I tore it up once I realized it was a fake. My monthly salary is less than 300 yuan, but I would not deceive others. My father was a member of the Chinese Communist Party and a government official. He told me to spend that fake money at night, so no one would notice it. I didn't listen to him, because I practiced Falun Gong and I follow the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.” If I hadn’t been practicing Falun Gong, I would have done what my father suggested. I am in very good health due to practicing Falun Gong. Why does the Chinese government ban this practice? I think the government should learn more about Falun Gong.” The officials were listening, and one of them even wrote something in a notebook.
Later on, my company was downsizing and had to lay off several people. I was the only one who kept my job without resorting to bribery. One day, a mid-level manager in the factory told me, “The general manager mentioned Falun Gong in a meeting.” “What did he say?” I asked. He said, “My job would be much easier if all of you could be just like Falun Gong practitioners.” I smiled.
