(Minghui.org) I recently met Hu, a fellow soldier whom I hadn't seen for a long time. When I was clarifying the truth about Falun Dafa to him, another soldier, Zhijian, joined us.

After exchanging greetings, Zhijian asked what we were talking about. Hu said, “I am working on him.” Zhijian waved his hand and said, “You should listen to him instead of working on him. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is really bad, and it is always causing trouble. People that do bad things walk free, while good people are arrested daily. You listen to what he says—it is all true.” I told Hu many real stories about Falun Dafa and he became clear on the truth.

Zhijian is the captain of the Economic Security Brigade. Although he is also the director of the local 610 Office, he knows Falun Dafa is good and believes that “good and evil have their consequences.” He identifies with Falun Dafa and actively protects practitioners. He withdrew from the CCP as early as 2005.

He has used his position to protect practitioners. The 610 Office above him called the practitioners' names on many occasion and attempted to send those in his work unit to a brainwashing center. He did his best to protect the practitioners, and, as a result, none of the practitioners in his work unit was ever sent to a brainwashing center.

In 2010, a practitioner in his unit was arrested by officers from the city Domestic Security Division. After he heard about it, he called on his cronies to intervene and eventually kept the practitioner from being persecuted further.

On another occasion, a practitioner outside of his jurisdiction was arrested and his home was ransacked. The 610 Office agents seized some of his personal belongings as evidence to support their case against him. When he learned about it, he immediately went to see the director in charge and asked him to release the practitioner. He then contacted the 610 Office director of the practitioner's unit and discussed how to rescue him. The practitioner was finally released, and most of his belongings were returned to him.

He showed me the items that had been confiscated from practitioners by his unit. He quietly kept some nice banners, stickers, and brochures. He had practitioners remove all of the the CCP propaganda from his office.

He told the members of his brigade that when they saw people distributing or posting Falun Gong materials, just tell them to leave quickly. That was all—no beatings, no arrests, nothing else, and resulting in less trouble for everyone.

Because he has been inactive in the persecution of Falun Gong, he has lost out on thousands of yuan in bonuses from the 610 Office above him. When we mentioned that, he said, “I would be unwilling to take it if they give it to me, because it would not be honest money.”

He had to show he was doing something on some occasions. Some practitioners who did not know him well put his name on Minghui's list of “evildoers,” and he did not understand why. I told him, “That is a misunderstanding among human beings. Heaven knows what you have done, and heaven never misunderstands. If your superiors at the 610 Office complain about your work, you can say that you are on Minghui's list of evildoers. That way you can protect practitioners while at the same time convincing your superiors you are doing your job.” He smiled in understanding.
