(Minghui.org) At present, the world is watching with keen interest the changes taking place in China. More than ever before, people in mainland China yearn for the truth. NTDTV is an independent media outlet that provides truthful reporting and consequently viewership in China has increased dramatically. The CCP is fearful of this station and has gone all out to block information. It has interfered with NTDTV's broadcasting signals on Koreasat-5 to mainland China in its attempt to block Chinese citizens' channels to the truth.
On May 9, 2012, NTDTV released a public statement condemning any attempts at interfering with the free flow of information. The station is actively looking for ways to overcome interference in its broadcast so that mainland Chinese can receive accurate information free from the Communist Regime's news censorship.
“At present, historic changes are taking place in China. The heinous crimes committed by the Jiang Zemin-led regime and scandals are being exposed, one after another. The Communist regime is facing an unprecedented crisis. During this period of great upheaval in Chinese society, the public's greatest desire is to obtain free and accurate information,” said Carrie Hung, spokesperson for NTDTV. “NTDTV is the only Chinese TV station to broadcast programs to the mainland Chinese audience free from the CCP's news review and influence, 24 hours a day. Hence it has become the mainland public's only source of true information from a television broadcast.”
Since Wang Lijun fled to the US embassy in February, according to sources from mainland China, the number of mainland Chinese installing satellite television to watch NTDTV has increased tremendously. Among them are many Communist Party officials. Carrie Hung said: “This surely unnerved the Jiang Zemin faction and the CCP. It is not difficult to see the CCP's involvement behind the scenes in the disruption of NTDTV's service on Koreasat-5. They want to prevent Chinese people from having access to unfiltered information.”
Since the incorporation of NTDTV, and especially since the station hired satellites to broadcast programs to mainland China in 2004, tens of thousands of people in China who have satellite antennas have had access to unfiltered information through satellite TV programs. However, right from the beginning, interference from the CCP has been continuous. In 2005, a European satellite company announced its intention to terminate its contract with NTDTV. In 2008, just before the Beijing Olympics, Eutelsat abruptly terminated NTDTV's broadcast to China through its W5 satellite. In 2009, NTDTV's Asia-Pacific channel was blocked around October 1, the 60th anniversary of China's communist revolution. Through these incidents people can see the influence of the CCP behind the scenes.
