Additional Persecution News from China – April 2, 2012 (17 Reports)

(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 15 cities or counties in 10 provinces. As per this report, 13 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 8 practitioners were illegally arrested.

1. [Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chen Min Persecuted in Drug Rehabilitation Center

Ms. Chen Min was illegally sentenced to two years of incarceration and detained and tortured in the Heilongjiang Province Drug Rehabilitation Center, a labor camp in Harbin City. In July 2011 the guards forced her to do hard labor and placed her in solitary confinement. Ms. Chen later manifested symptoms of heart problems and cervical spondylosis. While in solitary confinement she was forbidden to sleep on a bed and instead had to lie on the ground without turning over. In addition, the guards sent inmates to monitor Ms. Chen around the clock. On October 12, 2011 she was transferred to the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp in Heilongjiang Province.

2. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Elderly Practitioner In Her 70s Arrested

A practitioner in her 70s from Nanchang City was arrested when she told people the facts about Falun Gong in Xiangshan Square on the morning of March 30, 212. She was later sent to the Kuaizixiang Police Station.

3. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chen Yanyu Arrested

Ms. Chen Yanyu, a 40-year-old doctor, was arrested on March 11, 2012 when she talked to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She is currently in the Nangou Detention Center.

Ms. Chen was persecuted many times for her steadfast belief in Falun Gong. Persecution and abuse included illegal sentencing, brainwashing sessions, forced labor, detention and dismissal from her workplace.

4. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhang Shaoqing Arrested and Sent to the Shabao Women’s Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Zhang Shaoqing, in her 60s, from Tuzhu Town, the Shapingba District was arrested on March 15, 2012 and held in the Baihelin Detention Center. She was transferred to the Shabao Women’s Forced Labor Camp 15 days later and sentenced to one year of forced labor.

5. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Mr. Li Hongsheng Held in the Hefei City First Detention Center

It has been 48 days since Mr. Li Hongsheng was arrested by Nanqi Police Station officials on the evening of February 16, 2012. He is currently in the Hefei City First Detention Center.

6. [Tianjin] Ms. Chai Feng Arrested and Her Home Ransacked

Xianshuigu Police Station officials arrested Ms. Chai Feng from her home in Xianshuigu in the Jinnan District on the morning of March 30, 2012. They also took away her computer and other personal belongings. Ms. Chai is currently in the Zhaijiadian Detention Center.

7. [Shandong Province] Zhaoyuan City 610 Office Attempted to Arrest Practitioners

More than 10 officers from the Qishan Town 610 Office and the Qishan Town Police Station broke into Mr. Wu Faming’s home in Linzhuang Village on the morning of March 15, 2012. They took away Falun Gong books, truth-clarifying materials and discs and many of his personal belongings, including a desktop computer and three MP3 players. They also attempted to take Mr. Wu into custody, but failed because of his family's strong protests.

8. [Tahe County, Heilongjiang Province] Additional Information Regarding the Persecution of Ms. Song Chunyuan and Ms. Meng Zhaohong

Ms. Song Chunyuan was arrested on April 26, 2011 and held in the Tahe Detention Center for seven months. She was transferred to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison, where she was tortured for three months by the guards. Ms. Song is currently detained in Ward 11. The guards monitor her 24 hours per day, forbid her to speak or have contact with others, and force her to sit still on a small stool every day.

Ms. Meng Zhaohong from Taihe County was also arrested and sent to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison. She is currently detained in Ward 9. She was arrested on July 23, 2008 and taken to the Tahe Detention Center. The authorities later sentenced her to four years of imprisonment.

9. [Chongqing] Mr. Cheng Jianbo and Ms. Li Xiaoling Subjected to Two Years of Forced Labor and Tortured

10. [Xinhua County, Hunan Province] Ms. Zhang Guihua Sentenced to One and a Half Years in a Forced Labor Camp

Ms. Zhang Guihua was subjected to one year of forced labor in 2007. Officials from the Xinhua County 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division arrested her again on March 20, 2012 and sentenced her to one and a half years in the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp where she was sent on March 31.

11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp Officials Extended Ms. Yu Feng’s Term

Ms. Yu Feng was sentenced to one year in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City, merely because she clarified the facts about Falun Gong. She should have been released on April 1, 2012, but the forced labor camp officials extended her term without following any legal procedures.

12. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Zhang Zhaohua Harassed

Seven to eight officers from the Baoqing County 610 Office and the Xiaochengzi Police Station broke into Ms. Zhang Zhaohua’s home on March 15, 2012. They harassed her, ransacked her home and took away Falun Gong materials and discs.

14. [Yiyang City, Hunan Province] Ms. Zhou Aiqun Arrested

Ms. Zhou Aiqun was arrested when she told people the facts about Falun Gong on the morning of March 29, 2012. She is currently held in the Yiyang City Second Detention Center.

15. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Xiaoxian Arrested and Taken to a Brainwashing Center

Datang Community Party secretary Ke Jianhong and police officer Liu Longzhou arrested Ms. Zhu Xiaoxian and sent her to the Hubei Province Brainwashing Center on the morning of March 29, 2012.

16. [Beijing] Mr. Gao Jianming Arrested for the Fourth Time

Tiantan Police Station officials in the Dongcheng District ransacked Mr. Gao Jianming’s home on the evening of February 29, 2012. They arrested him and sent him to the police station early the following e morning. Mr. Gao is currently in the Dongcheng District Detention Center. This has been his fourth arrest.

17. [Wuchang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Gao Hongxia Harassed

Wuchang City Domestic Security Division officials broke into Ms. Gao Hongxia’s home in Xinglong Township several days ago and demanded she write a statement that guaranteed she would not to practice Falun Gong again. Her husband and family members also put pressure on her out of fear of the persecution.
