At Least 15 Practitioners Detained in Large-Scale Arrest in Longkou City, Shandong Province

(Minghui.org) Led by the Yantai City 610 Office and the Longkou City Domestic Security Division, the Longkou City police carried out citywide arrests of Falun Gong practitioners on the morning of April 11, 2012. Police agents broke into practitioners’ homes and forcibly took them into custody. They also ransacked practitioners’ homes and confiscated many of their personal belongings, including computers, televisions, printers, cash and bank cards. The arrests caused practitioners and their families over 500,000 yuan in direct financial losses. Many practitioners’ families experienced great difficulties as a result of the persecution.

Ms. Miao Chunping’s family was subjected to the heaviest losses. The police ransacked the decorating shop that her family owned and managed, confiscating nearly 100,000 yuan in cash and bank cards worth more than 200,000 yuan. Unable to withstand the extreme pressure of the persecution, Ms. Miao's mother-in-law drank an agro-chemical and passed away on April 14, 2012.

This is the third time Longkouo City police have carried out a large-scale arrest of practitioners. The first took place in 2001, when 17 practitioners were illegally arrested and sent to the Wangcun Brainwashing Center in Zibo City. The second took place in 2006 when Jiang Zemin visited Longkou City.

The following practitioners were arrested on April 11, 2012:

Zhangjiagou, Dongcheng District: Liu Yancui and Mu Xiangshun arrested by officers from the Donglai Police Station.

Xicheng District: Yang Meijuan, Jiang Yongzhan and his wife, Jiang Xunliang, Tang Ping and his wife, Miao Chunping, Wang Xuan and her daughter, Tang Zhulong and Yuan Yuqin arrested by agents from the Longgang Police Station.

Dongjiang Town: Sui Yuhong, Wang Mingliang, Huang Yan and his wife, and Zhuang Shuhua arrested by officers from the Dongjiang Police Station.

Xiadingjia Town: Li Qiumei arrested by agents from the Xiadingjia Town Police Station.

Practitioners Yuan Yuqin, Huang Yan, Tang Ping and Li Qiumei were released the same evening. All other arrested practitioners were detained. Practitioners Liu Yancui, Mu Xiangshun, Jiang Xunliang, Zhuang Shuhua, Jiang Yongzhan, Tang Zhulong and Wang Mingliang were held in the Longkou City Detention Center. Practitioners Yang Meijuan, Miao Chunping, Wang Xuan and Sui Yuhong were incarcerated in the Yantai City Detention Center.

In addition, Mr. Yu Kexin and his wife Ms. Lu Like from Dongcheng District were harassed. The police broke into their home through the window and took away more than 100 Falun Gong books.
