(Minghui.org) Ms. Zhang Fuying and retired teacher Ms. Miao Lijun were illegally arrested by Shenzhen City police on April 3, 2012. Ms. Zhang has returned home, but Ms. Miao is still detained at Futian Detention Center.
Ms. Miao Lijun, in her 50s, is a retired teacher from Sichuan Province. She came to Shenzhen two years ago to help her son with his children and housework.
Ms. Zhang Fuying, 65 years old, lives in Shenzhen. She has been arrested by local police several times previously and detained at a brainwashing center twice. In 2001, she was sentenced to two years and two months in Sanshui Women's Forced Labor Camp in Guangdong Province.
When Ms. Miao and Ms. Zhang were distributing materials clarifying the facts about Falun Gong around 9:00 a.m. on April 3, 2012, they were spotted by police. Four or five plainclothes police officers rushed toward them, grabbed their purses and searched them. They arrested the two practitioners, took them to the nearby police checkpoint and then to Shatou Police Station.
The practitioners were interrogated at the police station but they refused to reveal any personal information. However, the police were able to discover their names and addresses. Ms. Miao's husband went to Shatou Police Station later that day and asked the police to release her. He also brought some food for her. The police confiscated the food and then transferred the two practitioners to Futian Detention Center.
Late that night, police officers from Shatou Police Station took the two practitioners to a secret location for a physical examination. Ms. Zhang didn't pass the exam, so she was allowed to be taken back home by her family. But Ms. Miao is still detained at Futian Detention Center.
