(Minghui.org) During the process of promoting Shen Yun Performing Arts, I realised that it was also a process of cultivating myself. With regards to this year’s Shen Yun DVD that was being circulated in China, although I saw the DVD case cover provided on the Minghui website, I still continued to use a paper sleeve, which I had used last year when I circulated the DVDs. Recently, I saw many articles written by practitioners in which they shared about the quality of DVDs. This made me think about this issue further, and I felt this was getting more and more important.
At first when Master let us circulate the Shen Yun DVD in China, he did not want us to put it together with the other truth clarification materials. This was so that people who watched the DVD wouldn't have preconceived ideas, which could affect the effectiveness of saving sentient beings. Currently, the situation has changed and we are unable to assess whether our efforts of widely circulating the DVDs has had any effect. Many practitioners noticed that many distributed DVDs were thrown away by people who did not recognise how precious this DVD is and did not treasure it. They had created karma for themselves.
Master said that the overseas audience of Shen Yun should be mainstream people. Some overseas practitioners did not understand this, and we practitioners in China were also puzzled. One practitioner said something which had a great effect on me and helped to reduce some of my misunderstandings. She said, “Now, whenever we distribute a high quality DVD it is equivalent to an overseas practitioner selling a ticket, they are both saving sentient beings.”
Some people know that Shen Yun is wonderful. Some don’t know and their minds are heavily poisoned by the Party culture. They are living in this material and crude social environment and feel that modern music is better. They think that classical dancing and singing is boring. I was also unwilling to watch Shen Yun initially for this reason. I made myself watch it and now I really know that the Shen Yun performance is wonderful. It was a process from unwillingness to appreciation. At first, I felt that I did not know how to appreciate art and did not see anything special about Shen Yun. As I watched the interviews of overseas audiences, the praise from professionals and the cultivation experience sharing articles of practitioners involved in Shen Yun, it helped me to gradually understand more and more about Shen Yun. I slowly learned how to appreciate the wonderfulness of the performance. When we are distributing DVDs, we should follow the requirements of the training materials for promotion and tell others about the greatness of Shen Yun, such that people know and appreciate Shen Yun. Then the DVD can achieve its intended effect of saving sentient beings. Save one person with each DVD distributed and put emphasis on the quality. If we Chinese practitioners could learn more about the professional side of Chinese classical dance and Shen Yun, it would be of great help to our promotion.
When I was about to submit this article, some other things happened. I wanted to see the contents of the DVD. I realised that it was blank. I checked a few other DVDs and noticed they all were blank. I was shocked. If the DVDs we distribute are blank, what will people think of us?
I looked inward: why did this happen? At that moment I still had some DVDs in paper sleeves. I wanted to distribute them first and then do the professional cover for a DVD case. Perhaps it was this thought that was not righteous and thus caused this situation. Through this, I realised the seriousness of cultivation. I realised that if anything is not good, we must rectify it immediately, and not find excuses.
