Four Practitioners from Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province Given Illegal Sentences Ranging from Three to Eight Years in Prison

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners Shi Xiuqing, Lu Guifen, Zhu Ping, and Zhu Guotian from Liujiazi Township, Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province, were arrested on May 23, 2011 by Zhao Qiang, a leader from the Chaoyang County Domestic Security Division, and other police officers. Zhao Qiang later collaborated with the county Procuratorate and court, and fabricated materials in order to bring charges against the practitioners. As a result, the practitioners were illegally sentenced to imprisonment. Ms. Lu Guifen was given eight years; Zhu Ping, five years; Shi Xiuqing, four years; and Mr. Zhu Guotian, three years.

The four practitioners appealed to the Chaoyang City Intermediate Court, which upheld the original sentencing on January 18, 2012. The police plan to soon send the practitioners to prisons.

Zhao Qiang, the Chaoyang County Domestic Security Division head, along with Liujiazi Police Station head Suo Jingdong, and political head Sun Lianfeng, and other officers, participated in the arrests of the four practitioners in May 2011. Mr. Zhu Guotian was released because his poor health disqualified him from detention, and the three other practitioners were interrogated before they were taken to the Beishan Detention Center in Xidayingzi. But Mr. Zhu Guotian was later arrested around July 4, 2011.

The police ransacked the practitioners' homes overnight and took many of their personal belongings, including books, computers, printers, DVDs, and other personal items.

Shortly after the arrests, Zhao Qiang and political head Sun Lianfeng from the domestic division started to fabricate evidence against the practitioners, and collaborated with the county Procuratorate and court to sentence the practitioners to prison.

The practitioners' families were not informed about their detention and sentencing, and only after their repeated inquiries did they learn that the practitioners had been illegally sentenced and would soon be sent to prison.
