(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Jia Guilan, 70, was arrested in August 2008 by officers from the Zhonghualu Police Station in the Jianhua District of Qiqihar City. In April 2009, she was sentenced to seven years in prison. Her family wasn't notified. She has been tortured ever since in Heilongjiang Women's Prison. She was forced to sit in an upright position on a small wooden stool for 17 hours per day. Zheng Jie, team head of Ward 9, and Wang Yali, team head of Ward 11, ordered criminals to beat, swear at, and humiliate her. She is on the verge of death.
Ms. Jia's daughter recently went to visit her. Her mother, who was robust and healthy before being incarcerated, is now emaciated and loses consciousness. Her daughter carefully questioned her. She was able to speak intermittently and told her that she had fainted six times, her heart frequently stops beating, and she has twice become unconscious.
Ms. Jia's daughter spoke with Qiu, team head of Ward 4, and asked him to report her mother's condition to the higher authorities. She hopes that they will release her mother given her critical condition.
Torture reenactment: Forced sitting on a stool for prolonged periods
The designated units for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners at Heilongjiang Women's Prison are Wards 9 and 11. They are called the “devil’s wards.” Criminals shudder at the mention of these wards. Zheng Jie, team head of Ward 9, and Wang Yali, team head of Ward 11, are responsible for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners over long periods of time. Not a single practitioner has escaped harsh torture in these wards. The guards assigned Wang Dongmei and Wang Yajuan, the most viscous criminals in Ward 9, to closely monitor Ms. Jia. They forced her to sit with her back straight, her hands on her knees, and her legs at a 90-degree angle, on a small plastic stool every day from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. She was forced to maintain this posture for 17 hours and wasn't allowed to move at all. The inmates brought her three meals a day that she ate in this position.
Criminals Wang Dongmei and Wang Yajuan tortured Ms. Jia every day under the direction of Zheng Jie, the team head, and Sun, a guard from No. 9 Ward. Despite the pressure and severe torture, Ms. Jia refused to give up her belief, so Zheng Jie decided to torture her more. Zheng Jie and guard Sun instructed three criminals to force Ms. Jia to sit on an even lower stool for longer periods of time every day, from 5:00 a.m. to midnight. It was more difficult to sit straight, and her breathing became labored. She almost fainted after having endured this for such a long time and having suffered so much physically.
Her family is in the process of lodging a complaint against the prison for the cruel torture inflicted on Ms. Jia and demanding that the perpetrators be severely punished.
