(Minghui.org) Officers from the Jiamusi State Security Bureau, the Jiamusi Police Department, and police stations broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Shuhua on the evening of September 10, 2012. Around 10 p.m., Ms. Sun Ying, an elderly Falun Gong practitioner, was carried upside down from the 6th floor to the ground floor. Four people held her arms and legs, then threw her on the ground.

Arrested While Visiting a Friend

Agents from the Jiamusi State Security Bureau had been following and monitoring Ms. Sun Ying for a long time. When she visited fellow practitioner Ms. Zhang Shuhua on the evening of September 10, 2012, agents from the Jiamusi State Security Bureau, along with officers from the Jiamusi Police Department, the Xiangyang Police Department, the Qiaonan Police Station, and the Jianshe Police Station, started pounding on the door of Ms. Zhang's home around 8:30 p.m. They punched and kicked the door, then opened it with a master key. Over ten agents rushed in and videotaped and confiscated Ms. Zhang's belongings. They attempted to force Ms. Zhang's guests to tell their names, but they refused. Then they called in Chen Wanyou to identify people (Chen has been actively persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since 1999).

When it was almost 10 p.m., officers ordered Ms. Sun Ying to go with them. She refused. Four officers then surrounded her, grabbed her arms and legs, carried her upside down from the 6th floor, then threw her on the ground. Then they dragged her up and stuffed her into a car. They did not even give her a second to put on her shoes. She was dizzy and could barely breathe.

Ms. Sun and several other practitioners were taken to the Qiaonan Police Station. They had to sit on metal chairs in the station's hallway all night, shivering in the cold. At around 9:00 the next morning, officers drove them to the Jiamusi Osteopathy Hospital for physicals. As a result of the sudden and prolonged physical and mental suffering, Ms. Sun passed out when she stepped out of the car. Only after her family's insistent demands and intense negotiation did officers release her.

Despite how she had been treated, Ms. Sun did not forget Master Li Hongzhi's words “treat sentient beings with compassion” (“Teaching the Fa at the Washington, D.C. Fa Conference”). She told the officers to stop participating in crimes and to choose a wonderful future for themselves and their families. Some officers were moved by her and other practitioners, and said that they did not want to participate in the persecution. Some officers bought steamed stuffed buns for practitioners and gave them blankets and shoes to keep them warm.

After the persecution of Falun Gong started, Ms. Sun's supervisor did as the CCP directed and suspended her retirement pension for five years. Her husband couldn't bear the pressure and had to divorce her. The persecution has caused difficulties and trauma for her and her family, physically, mentally and financially.

Sickness Eliminated after Practicing Falun Gong

Ms. Sun used to suffer from many diseases including neurosis, stomach ulcer, Hepatitis B, hysteromyoma, bronchitis, emphysema, and arthritis. She visited many big hospitals and tried many qigong and fitness exercises, all with very limited results. It cost her family a lot of money to take care of her.

By chance, somebody mentioned Falun Gong to her in April 1998, and told her about its remarkable ability to heal sickness. Ms. Sun then started practicing Falun Gong. She strictly followed the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and kept practicing the five sets of Falun Gong exercises every day. In less than a month, she got rid of all her diseases. She became more energetic than ever. Her family was very pleased. Her relatives and neighbors also witnessed the supernatural nature of Falun Gong. Her family continued supporting her practice even after Jiang's regime started persecuting Falun Gong.

As a result of practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Sun appears younger than she is, and people cannot tell that she is almost 70. She hears well, sees clearly, and moves swiftly.

Ms. Sun often tells her family, friends, and coworkers that Falun Gong is a great law of great virtue that teaches people to be kind and cleanses one's heart. She hopes that others can also live a happy life and no longer suffer from sickness. Even in July 1999, when Jiang's regime launched the persecution of Falun Gong and viciously defamed its founder, Li Hongzhi, Ms. Sun kept her faith and continued explaining the facts about Falun Gong to people. She spread the seeds of compassion to the hearts of people that she met, and let them feel the wonderfulness of Falun Gong and the strength of compassion and righteousness.

Appealling in Beijing

Ms. Sun and other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal on October 23, 1999. They hoped to clarify the truth of Falun Gong to people and restore Master Li's good reputation. The next day at Tiananmen Square, officers stopped her and asked whether she practiced Falun Gong. She calmly said “Yes,” and told the officers, “I still practice Falun Gong. Falun Gong is good!” They forced her into a police vehicle already filled with many practitioners from all over who had come to Beijing to appeal. They were driven to the Tiananmen Police Station, where they were transferred onto a bus and driven to the Fengtai Baseball Stadium in Beijing.

Ms. Sun refused to tell her name or address, which the CCP often uses to implicate family members, employers, etc. She was transferred to the Xijiao Detention Center around 9:00 that evening. Many practitioners were already held there. Before being sent into their cells, all the practitioners were ordered to squat and were stripped and searched. Guards interrogated Ms. Sun in a basement that night. They viciously defamed Falun Gong and its founder and demanded unreasonable concessions. Ms. Sun did not cooperate and kindly explained the facts about Falun Gong and how she benefited from it. The guards cursed at her for a long time before taking her back to the cell.

Ms. Sun started a hunger strike on October 25, 2012, to fight for her basic human rights and protect her freedom of belief. Guards found her identification card and obtained her personal information, so they transferred her to the Yilan County's Liaison Office in Beijing at around 4 p.m. October 26. She was held there for three days. The 490 yuan that she carried with her was also confiscated.

Officers from the Yilan County Police Department went to Beijing on October 29. They tied Ms. Sun and eight other practitioners up and escorted them back to Yilan County by train. The practitioners were then taken to the Yilan County Police Department. (Ms. Yu Shuqin, 50 years old, jumped out of the moving train and died as a result. The incident was reported on Minghui.org)

At the Yilan County Police Department, a group of officers from the Political and Security Section interrogated Ms. Sun. They also threatened her family and tried to force her to give up her belief and write a guarantee statement promising not to practice Falun Gong again. After understanding the true purpose of life, it was impossible for her to give up Falun Gong. Officers cursed her loudly and took her to the Yilan County Detention Center, where she was held for 30 days. She was released on December 31, 1999, after 3,000 yuan was extorted from her family.

Persecuted for Publicly Practicing Falun Gong

In order to help more people understand the facts about Falun Gong and no longer be deceived by lies, Ms. Sun and other practitioners did the Falun Gong exercises in public in front of Yilan Mall around 4 a.m. on February 19, 2000. They were arrested by Han Yunjie and other officers from the Yilan County Police Department. After officers took turns interrogating them the whole day at the police department, the practitioners were taken to the Yilan County Detention Center around 5 p.m. for a term of 45 days. It was during the coldest season in northeast China. Even with a thick cotton coat on, one can freeze by just standing outside for a little while. Ms. Sun was held in a garage with no heat. She believes were it not for her faith in Falun Dafa, she would not have survived.

Guards in the detention center tortured these good people who practice Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in all sorts of ways. They interrogated the practitioners, cursed them, and forced them to do manual labor. They made practitioners clean the yard, clean the toilets, etc. They kept them busy from morning to afternoon every day and practitioners often missed lunch time. Other detainees were moved by practitioners' compassion, selflessness, and forbearance. They often hid food under their bed covers to save it and keep it warm for practitioners when they came back from work. Practitioners were touched by their kind deeds.

Ms. Sun started a hunger strike again to protest the persecution, demand her freedom and protect her basic rights and dignity. She was released after 3,000 yuan was extorted from her family.

Suffering Wrongs and Tribulations In Order to Save Sentient Beings

Ms. Sun went to Jiamusi City and lived with her daughter in June 2000. She was arrested by Li Ji and other agents from the Jiamusi University Security Section for posting signs saying, “Falun Gong is Good” in the residential area of Jiamusi University No. 1 Study District on June 29, 2001. They took her to the Security Section and interrogated her through the night. She was taken to the Political and Security Section of Xiangyang Police Department at around 8 a.m. the next day, where Li and Sun interrogated her. In the afternoon, she was taken to the Jiamusi Detention Center. Ms. Sun kept explaining to them that practicing Falun Gong was legitimate, that explaining the facts about Falun Gong was legitimate, that practitioners were good people who follow the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and that practitioners were not criminals. Deceived by the CCP's propaganda and lies, the officers refused to listen to the facts. They continued to persecute Ms. Sun. She staged another hunger strike to resist the persecution. On the 11th day of the strike when Ms. Sun's life was in danger, the Xiangyang Police Department authorities extorted 4,000 yuan from her family as a “case handling fee” and then released her.

In 2001, Ms. Sun, already back in Yilan County by then, and eight other practitioners went to rural areas in Yilan County on the evening of November 9, carrying informational materials about Falun Gong and banners that read: “Falun Dafa is good.”

Militiamen arrested them when they were distributing information materials and hanging banners in Xingfu Village. Officers took them to the Yilan County Police Department and later interrogated them in the Yilan Hotel. The next day around 7 p.m., they were taken to the Yilan Detention Center. All arrested practitioners in the detention center started a hunger strike to protest. Guards started force-feeding them on the 4th day. Guard Shang Dezhong and other male inmates moved Ms. Sun out from the cell, held her down on an iron chair, and tied her up. Then inmates were directed to hold her arms, pull her hair so that she faced up, pinch her nose, then force-feed her with high density salt solution. She wasn't able to swallow the liquid, nor could she spit it out. She could barely breathe and she involuntarily kicked repeatedly. However, guard Shang Dezhong still used a cloth to stuff her mouth, which almost suffocated her.

Ms. Zhang Min, arrested with Ms. Sun Ying, was tortured for 60 hours straight by agents from the Yilan County Political and Security Section, including chief Han Yunjie. They took turns to cruelly beat her and suspended her in the air by handcuffing her to a heating coil. After being taken to the Yilan No. 2 Detention Center, she constantly spit blood and suffered from serious injuries. Despite her critical condition, guards and several inmates still held her down on a chair used for torturing and force-fed her with two bottles of salt solution. When Ms. Zhang passed out, they took her back to the cell. Only after inmates in the same cell begged guards again and again did they take Ms. Zhang to a hospital on the morning of Nov. 14. However, Ms. Zhang passed away on the way to the hospital, just five days after her arrest.
