Criminal Conduct of 610 Office Head Li Fenglin of Yushu City, Jinlin Province
(Clearwisdom.net) In June 2011, Li Fenglin, head of the 610 Office in Yushu City, Jilin Province stepped up efforts to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in a brainwashing center based in Xiuse Vacation Village of Huaijia Town. This was part of his plan to apply for 100,000 yuan of funding for his office operation.
With help from the residential committee and some township officials, Li Fenglin and local domestic security police began to illegally arrest and harass practitioners. They arrested Man Shujie and Yan Shijun, and harassed a dozen practitioners. Because of strong resistance from the practitioners, the brainwashing session they were sent to lasted only a week. But the 100,000 yuan funding was approved. On June 20, they transferred Man Shujie and Yan Shijun to Xinglong Mountain brainwashing center of Changchun City.
The assault of local practitioners resumed in the beginning of July. Police officer Zhao Wenfeng (head of Bahao Town police station) and Li Wei jumped the fence into practitioner Ms. Li Yanhui’s home. After ransacking her house, the police took Ms. Li to an undisclosed brainwashing center.
Family members came to the 610 Office, demanding that Ms. Li be released. The next day, Ms. Li’s daughter and niece came to ask for Ms. Li’s release. Their request was denied, but the police then arrested the pair. After several hours and an extortion of 400 yuan of bail money, the two children were released.
On July 4, several officers from Yushu City 610 Office and Wukesong Police Station joined local administration office head Xu Jinglong to abduct Ms. Ma Shufen. The next day, Ma’s husband was also taken into custody. The couple was sent to a brainwashing center at the City Economic Commission. Yu Aihua and Wang Pulan of Xinli Town and Chong Yuhua of Heilin Town were also arrested on the same day.
On July 6, 2011, five minutes after Yu Shuqing returned home, Xu Jinglong and three others abducted her a second time. When Yu was carried into a police car, people saw her mouth bleeding. A few days later when Yu’s daughter went to the police station and brainwashing center in the Economic Commission and Wukesong Town Center in search of her mother, no one told her anything. Finally, she learned that her mother was taken to Weizigou Detention Center in Changchun City.
On July 12, police jumped a fence into practitioner Mr. Zuo Zhongren’s home. Mr. Zuo, 65, a retired teacher, was taken to a brainwashing center. The police also came to 70-year-old Ms. Liu Shihua’s home and harassed her.
At the Economic Commission brainwashing center, the police divided practitioners into separate rooms. Each practitioner was assigned a “partner.” These “partners” were fellow villagers or neighbors who knew the practitioners, and their job was to monitor practitioners’ activities. The 610 Office also coerced family members to work as “partners,” and they were fined 100 yuan per day if they refused to cooperate.
On July 26, three practitioners from Yushu Town, Li Yanhui, Yu Aihua and Zuo Zhongren were sent to Xinglong Mountain brainwashing center after they resisted the 610 Office’s brainwashing efforts.
On August 9, practitioner Lu Xianfeng of Sihe Town of Yushu City had served out a four-year prison sentence. When his family members came to Shiling Prison of Siping City to pick him up, he had already been transferred to Xinglong Mountain brainwashing center of Changchun City.
On September 3, 2011, 68-year-old Li Manting of Sihe Town served out his three-year sentence. His family members arrived at Shiling Prison to pick him up. At 8:00 a.m., the guards told them to wait till 11:00 a.m. When family members returned, they were told to come back at 1:00 p.m. At 1:00 p.m., the prison guards told them that officers from the Yushu 610 Office picked up Li. Later, family members learned that he was transferred to Xinglong Mountain brainwashing center.
After Li Fenglin assumed his position as the head of 610 Office, he has consistently engaged in the persecution of Falun Gong. He not only directed the police, the prosecutors office and the court to persecute practitioners, he also personally carried out many operations. Because of him, some practitioners were killed, some lost their families, some became destitute and homeless, some had their salaries cut or lost their jobs. Several practitioners clarified the truth to him; his own relatives also told him to stop the persecution. But he refused to listen.
