Learning Falun Dafa in the Midst of Illness
(Clearwisdom.net) In early October 1998, one day just after lunch, I was thinking as I was leaning against the dinner table, “If I don't go see a doctor, will I be able to get through this winter, as I have gotten the flu a few times already? It would be best to go see a doctor today.” Unwillingly taking 12 yuan from the drawer, I was on my way out. I walked to a clinic at the hospital. I didn't see a doctor, so I sat down and waited. I waited for over an hour, but still no doctor appeared. I stepped out of the clinic and walked into the street, where people were doing a practice with a banner, “Falun Dafa, Cultivating life and character.” I didn't know then what Falun Dafa was, but I knew that cultivating life and character would be good.
One person in the group was my former schoolmate from primary school. During a break, I asked him about Falun Dafa. He told me about it and said if I wanted to know more, I ought to read the book Zhuan Falun. I had just the right amount of money, 12 yuan, to pay for the book. I rode my bike home, forgetting about seeing a doctor, as if I were flying—it was so easy.
I work days and study the book at night whenever possible. I use a flashlight in bed when there's no electricity. After I finished reading the book the first time around, my illness disappeared without any medication. I felt Dafa's supernatural power. Next, I wanted to go learn the exercises, but a practice site was only available in town, which was eight Chinese miles away from home. Where I live it is hilly and difficult to travel. I worried about wolves and wild pigs roaming around at night and early in the morning. However, I had to go learn Falun Gong, regardless of the difficulties.
I got up at three o'clock in the morning and rode my bike to the practice site in town. It took me two months to completely learn and solidify the five sets of Falun Gong exercises. During this period of time, in order not to be late, I rode my bike so fast that frequently I fell into a ditch and broke my bike's headlight, but I remained unharmed myself.
In the process of studying the Fa and doing Falun Gong exercises, I have improved myself physically and mentally, and I have an understanding that the real meaning of being human is to return to my true self, and that I must get rid of human notions and attachments to become a good person and an even better person.
After becoming a Dafa practitioner for about eighteen months, all my illnesses, including my left ear otitis (causing loss of hearing), lower back pain, and lymphatic system dysfunctions all disappeared. My family relationships have become more peaceful, enabling me to cultivate Dafa more solidly and to frequently clarify the truth about Dafa in society.
