Ms. Tan Cuiying after officers beat her

On the morning of May 13, 2011, Ou Shuangcai, the Shenling Town CCP Political and Judiciary Committee secretary, and more than ten officers stormed into Mr. Ou Yicheng's home, ransacked it, and arrested him. Mr. Ou Yicheng is Ms. Tan's husband; both are Falun Gong practitioners. Years earlier, he had been sent to forced labor and sentenced to prison, both times for practicing Falun Gong. Most recently he was being held in the Ningyuan County Detention Center. He was Ms. Tan's sole source of financial support.

On June 30, 2011, Ms. Tan went to the Domestic Security Division to request the release of her husband. Officers beat her so brutally that she passed out on the ground. She came to late in the evening and arrived home at 9:30 p.m. She was incontinent and mentally disordered and could not dress herself or take care of herself.

Ms. Tan and her husband, Mr. Ou, have been persecuted for a long time for adamantly refusing to give up their faith in Falun Gong. Mr. Ou Yicheng was detained in the Xinkaipu Forced Labor Camp in Hunan Province in 2001. Ms. Tan was sentenced in 2002 and imprisoned in the Hunan Women's Prison. On May 24, 2005, the police again arrested the couple. Later Ms. Tan was sentenced to three years in prison and Mr. Ou Yincheng was sentenced to two years. In the Changsha Women Prison, Ms. Tan was forcibly injected with an unknown drug. Afterwards, she could not take care of herself for a long time.
