Magazine in Israel Calls for an End to the Persecution

(Clearwisdom.net) An Israeli magazine called Other Life recently published a six-page article on the practice of Falun Dafa and the persecution practitioners are subjected to by the Chinese Communist Party. This magazine, which covers topics such as natural medicine, spiritual culture, and community involvement, is sold in bookstores and on newsstands, and has quite a wide subscriber base.

The article is mentioned on the cover, and a brief synopsis of the article is included in the table of contents. A photograph of the book Zhuan Falun appears at the top of the article. This article is quite comprehensive and explains about the practice, describing its beauty, and its teachings, such as "How to return to generosity and compassion, to the original, true nature of man, to harmony in family life, and to peace and morality..." [quote from the article]. There is also an explanation about the exercises, including illustrations of the movements. Then appears a description of the book Zhuan Falun – "...which contains deep and high content... Yet in simple language." [quote from the article] It also discusses the indirect benefits as the body heals from diseases. Finally, the reporter added a comprehensive description, spanning over two pages, of the persecution taking place in China.

The title selected for the article was "The Practice, Promise and the Price," and the subtitle was "Falun Dafa, a Chinese system, gateway to wisdom, enlightenment, and peace – enchanted a hundred million people worldwide. Through meditation, five simple exercises, and a book, it ensures practitioners a life of harmony, peace, and morality." "It is difficult to understand," adds the reporter, "how such an innocent practice, which carries the theme of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, could be so threatening to the Chinese government that it started a brutal persecution of its practitioners."

Contact with the magazine was made through a non-practitioner who had already learned of the practice and supports it. Using his connections, he introduced practitioners to the magazine reporter. At the first meeting with the reporter, she was given a lot of material on the persecution, as well as a DVD of the film "The True Story of Falun Dafa." She watched the first part of the film in the meeting and shed tears over the brutality of the persecution.

Practitioners who stand in the streets handing out flyers and asking passersby to sign a petition protesting the persecution have recently said that many people don't need any further explanation. They tell the practitioners that they have already read the magazine article and that they know about Falun Gong and the persecution and wish to sign the petition. After the story was published in the magazine, people called and were interested in learning the exercises.
