(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Hongzhen from Shanghai is about 55 years old. On February 18, 2011, policemen searched her home and arrested her. Her ailing husband could no longer overcome this huge mental pressure and passed away.
On February 18, 2011, Ms. Li went to a supermarket to clarify the truth. Someone began talking very loudly about what she was doing and reported her. She left and went back home. Changning District police watched the supermarket's surveillance tape and recognized her. At 6 p.m., some street committee staff members led a group of police to break into her apartment and arrest her. They searched her apartment and confiscated her computer, Falun Gong books and other personal belongings.
Ms. Li's husband had a serious illness and depended on his wife for everything. In October 2010, Ms. Li was arrested and taken to the “law system school” (actually a brainwashing facility) held in Qingpu District, Shanghai for persecution. This was an overwhelming mental blow to her husband, as she was the only one he had to rely on for his daily needs. Their only daughter does not live with them. When his wife was arrested again, her husband could not take another serious blow and his physical condition dramatically worsened. One month later, he died in a hospital.
Her friends appealed, and wearing handcuffs, Ms. Li was allowed to see her husband's body. The heartless Communist Party is not only persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, but also their families.
In October 2001, Ms. Li Hongzhen was once sentenced to 5 years in prison by a Changning Court and detained at the Shanghai Songjiang Women's Prison.
