(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ren Dongsheng from Tianjin was illegally sentenced to five years in prison. He served the full term in the Gangbei Prison in Tianjin. Severe abuse and torture resulted in his being in a confused mental state. His term expired on March 7, 2011, but 610 Office agents transferred Mr. Ren and several other practitioners who should have been released to a brainwashing facility and held them for one additional week.

Mr. Ren was severely abused and mistreated during his five-year imprisonment. He was placed in a solitary confinement cell twice, each time for two weeks. He was deprived of food and drink. Even if he was allowed to eat, he was only given one minute to do so. He had to lie prone to the ground in order to take the food, because he was handcuffed and shackled. Mr. Ren often shouted, “Falun Dafa is good.” Guards would beat him as soon as he called out. He was beaten to the point of losing consciousness on one occasion.

Mr. Ren was arrested in March 2006 while distributing truth-clarification materials. He was illegally detained eight months before he was sentenced. He had been held in Division 1, Ward 5 in Gangbei Prison, Tianjin. By November, 2006 he had become emaciated as a result of physical abuse and mistreatment in prison. His family made repeated requests to visit him. Finally the prison authorities permitted his son and his older brother and sister-in-law to see him, but his wife was forbidden to visit him. During the meeting, a criminal detainee stood behind him, and a guard stood behind his son.

Mr. Ren's wife Zhang Liqin, was arrested on February 12, 2009 by agents from the Chengguan Police Station in Jinghai County, Tianjin, and later sentenced to seven years in Lingzhuangzi Women’s Prison. The couple’s son and Mr. Ren’s mother, who was in her eighties, were left home to take care of themselves.

Mr. Ren’s mother made repeated requests to visit him since June 2010, but was turned down every time. Although his term expired in 2011, he was not released. It has recently been learned that Mr. Ren was brutally beaten numerous times during the past six months, which resulted in his mental confusion.

Mr. Ren was finally released on March 15, 2011. His mental condition is not stable.
