Woman in Her 70s from Weihai, Shandong Province, Arrested and Money Extorted from Her Family
(Clearwisdom.net) Seventy-two-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yingxian from Weihai, Shandong Province, was arrested as she spoke with people about Falun Gong. Domestic Security Division officers extorted money from her family for her release.
Ms. Zhang passed by Yujiaying Village, Wangtuan Town, on her way home at around 10:00 a.m. on March 31, 2011, when she saw five people standing along the roadside. Out of compassion, she spoke with them about Falun Gong and told them to sincerely recite, "Falun Dafa is good" to have good fortune. A man in his 40s didn't believe her and said something unpleasant. Ms. Zhang left disappointed.
On her way she saw a police vehicle drive toward her. Two officers got out of the vehicle, forced her into it, and took her to the Wangtuan Police Station. An officer reported the case to the Industrial Garden Domestic Security Division of the Weihai City Police Department. Two officers arrived at the police station. One, surnamed Lin, who is a Domestic Security Division head, kicked Ms. Zhang. They then took her to a hospital in Weihai City for an examination. They stole 400 yuan from her.
Then they took her to the Weihai Detention Center. Officials refused to admit her because she didn't meet the requirements, but the police left her in the detention center anyway. The next day they contacted Ms. Zhang's daughter and ordered her to pay 10,000 yuan to secure her mother's release. Ms. Zhang's unemployed daughter said that she didn't have that much money. The police finally extorted 1,000 yuan from Ms. Zhang's family and released her that evening.
The image is the 1,000 yuan-receipt that Domestic Security Division officers issued Ms. Zhang Yingxian's family. The number “1,000” can barely be seen. What was written under "Name of Item" is simply unclear, and there is no signature on the receipt.
