(Clearwisdom.net) Clarifying the truth to strangers is one of the best ways to save more people. I started to do this in 2008. Here I would like to share some of my experiences.
Saving People Is the Highest Priority
Master said in “Fa Teaching at the 2007 New York Fa Conference,”
“Right now, one important thing that needs to be attended to is the matter of how to save more sentient beings, and it is something Dafa disciples are to accomplish during their current process of achieving Consummation. This is Dafa disciples' mission, a duty that cannot be shirked, something that they must do and must complete.”
Saving sentient beings is our prehistoric vow. If we save one person in this dimension, we are actually saving a cosmic body or a gigantic group of beings.
Taking the Initiative to Work on It
When one stays at home and does not clarify the truth, it is as if one is seeing people who are dying but not offering help. Thus I have made truth clarification a part of my life, as natural as eating or sleeping. While maintaining this mindset, we will find that almost everyone we encounter is waiting for us to save them.
Not Wasting Any Opportunity
Seizing the opportunity to do it is critical for face-to-face truth-clarification. For example, with anyone who comes to my store to shop, I always engage them in a little small talk followed by truth clarification. If anyone asks me for directions, I clarify the truth right after giving the person directions. For anyone who is waiting for a bus, I greet the person with a few sentences and then clarify the truth. When I go to a bank, after obtaining a number to wait in line, I sit down and begin to chat with the person next to me to clarify the truth. When that person’s number is about to be called, I often switch to another person and continue clarifying the truth. On one occasion when I went to a bank, two people agreed to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and/or its affiliated organizations after I clarified truth to them as we waited. When I ride my bike down the street, I do not waste time either. I often adjust my speed based on someone else’s so that I can stay even with him or her to clarify the truth.
Compassion and Rationality
It is very important to clarify the truth with compassion and rationality. This requires us to study the Fa well, be familiar with truth-clarification materials, and be able to answer questions. When clarifying the truth to strangers, we may encounter all types of people. When we have compassion in our hearts, the results are usually good.
When I see someone, I usually greet him or her with two or three sentences and then bring up the main topic. “Can I ask you something? Have you heard that heaven will eliminate the CCP and that one can have a safe future only after quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations?” The other person often says, “Is this related to Falun Gong?” I then reply, “Falun Gong practitioners are telling you how to stay away from danger and have a safe future.” I usually continue by talking about the corruption of the Communist regime and that it is a heavenly law that the regime will be eliminated. Therefore, when one decides to quit the CCP or its affiliated organizations, heaven will see his or her heart, and this person will thus have a safe future.
At times when have I told people that heaven will eliminate the Communist regime, some of them questioned it, saying that the regime only persecuted Falun Gong, plus the regime seemed powerful. I explained to them the following: That the Communist regime has persecuted many groups of people during its many political campaigns. Among them, the persecution of Falun Gong is one of the severest and most absurd, since Falun Gong practitioners are just a group of people who improve their minds and bodies by doing exercises and following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It may appear powerful on the surface, but, in fact, many government officers at all levels, including the police system, do know that Falun Gong practitioners are good people. They are aware that heaven will eliminate the Communist regime, and many of them have announced their resignations from the CCP and/or its affiliated organizations.
Remaining Undisturbed in the Face of Zealotry or Anger
We encounter people with different attitudes when we clarify the truth fact to face. Some of them may say, “The police are searching everywhere for people like you” or “How do you know I will not call the police?” I often tell them, “Police officers also live in this society, and they know the situation better than we ordinary people do. They complain about the CCP more than we do.” Some of them have asked, “Do you receive money from Falun Gong? How can you oppose the CCP—doesn't it give you everything you have?” I said, “We earn our salary through hard work; the CCP does not simply give it to us. In fact, Falun Gong practitioners are selfless because they risk their lives to tell you how to stay safe as catastrophe approaches.” We should be clear that, when people make careless comments, it is because they have been deeply poisoned by the CCP's brainwashing. Therefore, instead of being disturbed or upset, we should remain calm and continue clarifying the truth. They normally change quickly once they understand the truth.
Reminding People to Tell Others and Wishing Them a Good Future
For those who know the truth and clearly want to quit the CCP or its affiliated organizations, we can remind them to tell their friends or relatives, since it is important for everyone to learn the truth. For those who agree to quit, but do not seem definitively decisive, I congratulate them on their being saved and offer to celebrate with them in the future. This way, they will be assured of their decision. For those who do not agree to quit, we can tell them this is important and ask them to think it over. We can also tell them that we hope they will be saved sometime soon.
We should always remember to send forth righteous thoughts when clarifying the truth to strangers. We can do it at home, on the road, and/or right before we begin. In addition, every day it is good to review the people we have clarified the truth to so that we can examine where we have done well and where we need to improve. When clarifying the truth, we should smile and be polite and calm. We need to consider other people's attachments to avoid arguing with them and stirring up their negative side. Depending on their level of acceptance, we can decide what the main talking points should be so that we do not talk to them at too high a level.
Last year, I set a goal for myself—to save 1,200 people in the year 2010. After Master's article “Be More Diligent” came out, I increased my goal to 1,500. By the end of the year, I had surpassed my goal. However, we should not merely go after numbers, since our ultimate goal is to save people. Regardless of the format we are using, as long as we can truly save people and save as many as possible, we are doing the right thing.
