(Clearwisdom.net) In August 2011, Ms. Wang Min, who has been diagnosed with late stage cancer, was illegally sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment by a Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Court in the Shenbei New District. This sentencing was instigated by officials from the 610 Office of the same district. This was the second time that this court sentenced Ms. Wang.

Since the CCP began the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Wang Min has been arrested many times, and was sentenced heavily twice.

Wang Min

During her first imprisonment, Wang Min developed a mammary gland tumor after being tortured. She is currently suffering from late stage cancer, and her chest is seriously festering. Terminally ill cancer patients are usually not accepted by any prison, yet officials from the Shenbi New District 610 Office and court sentenced her once again to four and a half years of imprisonment. They want to send her to prison, which will amount to a death sentence.

610 Office Heads Sit Beside Presiding Judge during Trial

On June 14, 2001, Ms. Wang was suddenly arrested by police officers at her workplace. She was tortured by police officer Tao Dejun, who wanted to extract a confession. Tong Shuliang, head of the 610 Office in Xinchengzi (now the Shenbi New District), issued an order to heavily sentence Wang Min and several other Falun Gong practitioners.

On the day of the trial, Gao Yaqing and other 610 Office heads in the Xinchengzi District sat on both sides of Chen Kexue, the presiding judge, and directly participated in the court hearing. Ms. Wang said to this judge: “I have done nothing wrong by being a good person and living according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. You are committing crime if you sentence me.” Chen Kexue replied: “I must do what the government tells me to do.” Wang Min was sentenced to five years in prison.

On January 16, 2002, Wang Min was sent to District No. 9 of the women's prison in Liaoning Province. During her five years of imprisonment, Ms. Wang and other practitioners had to work all day long, starting at 6:00 a.m. every day. They had no fixed time at night to stop working, and it was common for them to work until midnight. Sometimes they had to work all night long, and were frequently beaten, cursed at and physically punished. Steadfast practitioners have been tortured to death.

After years of torture in prison, Ms. Wang developed a mammary gland tumor in 2004, which was an initial symptom of breast cancer. However, officials at the prison did not take any action, and when she was released in 2006, her tumor had grown and was festering.

When Ms. Wang returned home, she was severely ill and she had to endure endless monitoring and harassment from staff members of the community center, as well as from the local police station and the 610 Office. The Bureau of Education had already dismissed Ms. Wang from work and stopped her wages. She did not receive one cent of social welfare or electricity subsidy. She requested a review from the Education Bureau, but nobody wanted to get involved. One and a half years later, Wang Min received 250 yuan minimum social welfare support, which is not enough to live on.

While she was detained in Liaoning Prison, her older sister was unable to withstand the stress and fell ill, while her younger sister was mentally ill and unable to take care of herself. When Ms. Wang was released from prison, she took care of the family of her younger sister, even as she was being followed and monitored by the 610 office.

610 Head Gao Jie Repeatedly Attempted to Put Wang Min in Prison

During the CCP's “sensitive days”, the 610 Office wantonly arrested Falun Gong practitioners in order to complete tasks ordered by higher authorities.

Around October 1, 2010, Wang Min and fellow practitioner Liu Sulan were suddenly arrested by over ten police officers while they were shopping in a supermarket. One of these officers said: “She (Wang Min) can get her pension next year. Arrest her this year, and sentence her to at least five to six years.”

Officers from the Shenbei New District took Wang Min to the Shenyang City Detention Center. As Ms. Wang's chest festered seriously, a physician of Hospital No. 739 (a hospital designated by the CCP to persecute Falun Gong practitioners) diagnosed a late stage mammary gland tumor. The doctor at the Detention Center refused to take her into detention.

However, Gao Jie (female), assistant director of the Shenbei New District's 610 Office, was not willing to accept this, and repeatedly ordered police officers to take Ms. Wang to every big hospital for an examination, in an attempt to find a basis to persecute her, but failed. In order to imprison Ms. Wang, Gao Jie led seven to eight people from the Domestic Security Division and the Xinchengzi Street Police Station, and took her to the notorious Zhangshi Brainwashing Center in Yuhong District. However, the head of the brainwashing center also refused to accept Wang Min when he noticed her illness. Officials from the Shenbei New District 610 Office had to let her go home, but called it parole for medical treatment.

Shenbei New District Court Again Persecutes Wang Min

The staff of the Shenbei New District 610 Office and court knew full well about Ms. Wang's terminal illness. When she was in the hospital, a doctor once pointed at her infected area and said to a policewoman: “Does this need an examination? Isn't it obvious? See for yourself.”

However, officials from the court still held a hearing against Wang Min. During the trial on July 28, 2011, Ms. Wang requested the presiding judge to provide the provision of law, but he was not able to quote the law and said: “The provision of the law is in my mind.”

On August 25, 2011, the court delivered a written judgment against Wang Min, and once again sentenced her to four and a half years of imprisonment.

Feng Yan, the chief justice of the Shenbei New District Court, was one of the leading behind-the-scenes manipulators of this illegal verdict

Feng Yan

It was reported that when the presiding judge, Lu Guanghong, asked for instructions from Feng Yan and other court heads, whether the terminally ill Ms. Wang could have a suspended sentence, Feng Yan rejected the request and insisted on the sentence, because Wang Min is a Falun Gong practitioner. This was an order from the 610 Office.

This was not the first time that Feng Yan has illegally sentenced Falun Gong practitioners. In 2008, four practitioners were sentenced to between six to eleven years by the Shenbei New District Court. Feng Yan claimed responsibility for this openly in the presence of others.
