(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Shihong from the Jiang'an District, Wuhan City was illegally sentenced to four years in prison, and sent to the Baofenglu Women's Prison on September 7, 2010.
Ms. Li Shihong was arrested on March 31, 2009. Participating in the arrest were plainclothes officers from the Danshuichi Street Police Station in the Jiang'an District. Ms. Li was held in the Wuhan City No.1 Detention Center for one and a half years.
In December 2009, the procurator labeled Ms. Li's case as having "a lack of sufficient evidence" and returned her case to the Jiang'an District Police Department to complete the supplementary investigation three times. Nevertheless, the Jiang'an District Court officials tried Ms. Li on April 7, 2010, and handed Ms. Li a four-year prison term.
At the trial, the only people sitting in the public gallery were Ms. Li's older sister and several 610 Office agents who sat beside and behind her in order to monitor her.
A lawyer entered a not-guilty plea for Ms. Li. Neither the procurator nor the judge responded to the lawyer's defense and inquiries. Ms. Li requested the judge to present the evidence, but the judge ignored her.
Ms. Li appealed and hired a lawyer. Her lawyer received a decision from the Wuhan City Intermediate Court on August 25, 2010, upholding the original verdict. Jiang'an District Court officials issued a visit pass for Ms. Li's family at noon on September 6 after the family's repeated requests. Her family was informed the family that they could visit Ms. Li at the detention center the next afternoon. However, before her family could see her, the police sent Ms. Li to the women's prison early next morning.
