(Clearwisdom.net) My name is Liu Xiufeng, and I am from Laishui County in Hebei Province. My former employer is the Yongyang Township Judicial Office. I began practicing Dafa in 1996. Today I would like to share with you my experiences and my understanding that Falun Dafa is a blessing to all living beings. Dafa has saved my life.
Dafa Saved My Life
My third eye has been open since I was less than ten years old. I could see wonderful paradises, Buddhas, and gods in other dimensions as soon as nightfall hit, regardless if my eyes were open or closed. These visions have laid a foundation for me to build morals and practice Dafa.
My health was poor since childhood. I had my right kidney removed at age 28, because of renal failure. My husband Liu Jun was the Vice Party Secretary of Yongyang Township and was relatively well paid, but my medical expenses consumed at least two thirds of our combined income. By the end of 1995 I had renal failure in my left kidney and was hospitalized. When the doctor noticed that my body took in all the IV injections without discharging a drop of them he suggested stopping the treatment and looking for kidney transplant opportunities in other places, such as large hospitals. We had no way to come up with the 200,000 yuan for the transplant surgery, so I had to go home and wait to die. At the time I experienced all-over edema, having swelled like a giant loaf of bread.
One day my husband's co-worker's wife visited and told me, "Let's go find Falun Gong. I heard it works wonders."
That night I finished practicing all five sets of the Falun Gong exercises and read the book Zhuan Falun until midnight. At around four or five o'clock the next afternoon I discharged lots of urine. From then on I ate, drank, slept and discharged normally, and was full of energy. I threw away all the Western and Eastern medicines and herbs.
I had come back to life!
Fa study made me realize that all the sicknesses and tribulations people were suffering happen due to the deteriorating human mind/character, which goes against the characteristics of the universe as presented in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and that Falun Dafa could help assimilate the human mind/character with Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
Folks Followed
The news about my miraculous recovery quickly traveled across the entire township of 21 villages. Everyone knew of a female cadre in Yongyang Township that a hospital diagnosis had sentenced to death, but who miraculously recovered by practicing Falun Gong. Many other villagers also began Falun Gong practice.
Prior to July 20, 1999, when the persecution started, nearly 10,000 people in Laishui County and nearly 1,000 people in Yongyang Township had begun practicing Falun Gong.
Resolving Civil Disputes
The main duty of employees in the Judicial Office where I worked was to reconcile and handle all kinds of civil disputes. Since the beginning of my Falun Gong practice I have put the principles inherent in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to use, to solve many long-lasting and difficult civil disputes.
Some people were in deep enmity with their neighbors for generations over homestead issues, and had been filing lawsuits and petitions against each other for many years. When I resolved their issues, both parties thanked me and Falun Gong with tears in their eyes, "If both our families could have tolerated a little and taken a step back when the conflict first arose, then we would not have had to hold onto enmity for generations, or made ourselves bankrupt paying for all the lawsuits and petitions."
Some older couples said to me, "Please dismiss our case against our son, who financially supported us before, because now he and his wife are practicing Falun Gong and have stopped abusing us. They are very nice to us. Thank you Falun Gong, and thank you Master Li!"
The cadres announced via loudspeaker during tax and public grain collection season, "We hope to let people know that all the villagers who practice Falun Gong have already duly paid their taxes and delivered the best and cleanest wheat to the grain supply center." At the grain supply center the staff would say, "Are you a Falun Gong practitioner? We'll skip the examination step for your wheat and directly weigh it, because we trust the quality of your wheat."
During village cadre elections the township cadre said, "Do your best to select those who practice Falun Gong and are capable at the same time." During voting the villagers said, "Falun Gong practitioners uphold justice. We trust leaders like this." Indeed, many Falun Gong practitioners were elected village cadres throughout the county.
Communist Regime's Persecution
The communist regime began persecuting Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. I persisted in practicing, and appealed and clarified the facts of Falun Gong. Agents from the 610 Office, and officers from the police department arrested me many times. They sent me to brainwashing centers, ransacked my home and twice sentenced me to a forced labor camp. In addition, they forced my husband to divorce me and dismissed me from my job.
In the brainwashing center I witnessed thugs torturing practitioners who had gone on peaceful appeal and continued practicing. The torture included lashings with double-twisted wires and belts, severe beatings with wooden sticks, table legs or shoes, stomping on and kicking with leather shoes, long-time exposure to the burning sun, kneeling on pebbles or bricks for long hours, and forcing two practitioners to beat each other. Afterwards the practitioners were fined 3,000 to 5,000 yuan, and many were sent to labor camps.
Higher Requirements
I was released from the detention center in 2002. Having no money, I found a temporary job in a popsicle-making factory. One day on my way home I was hit by a motorcycle and lost consciousness. When I woke up I found myself surrounded by 50-60 onlookers. Blood gushed out of my left arm, and the skin on my legs was abraded, leaving them bleeding. My head, spine and left ribs were in great pain. I nonetheless thought of myself as a Falun Dafa practitioner, and knew that I would be OK. I got up, took great effort to stand up straight and said, "Don't worry. I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I'm OK." I told the motorcycle rider, a young man, "I know you didn't hit me on purpose. I won't exploit you."
A moment later a traffic policeman arrived to take the young man away for detention. I said, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner. I will not ask for compensation from him, and I don't want you to punish him, either. I would like to ask all of you who are watching to remember that Falun Dafa is good! It is a righteous way to teach people to be good, which is good for the country and good for the people." The young man's father took out a stack of cash, about 1,000 yuan, and handed it to me, "Please, go to the hospital and have yourself checked." I said, "No, thanks. I don't need your money."
The young man's father repeatedly asked me what they could do for me. I said, "I ask you to tell everyone you meet that Falun Gong is a righteous way that teaches people to be good." He said, "I will. I sure will. I will tell whomever I meet wherever I go."
"Thousand-year Predestined Relationship" Eatery
With my younger sister's help I opened a small eatery, selling soup with hand-rolled noodles. Our business sign read, "Thousand-year Predestined Relationship."
We explained the facts about Falun Gong to everyone who came into our restaurant or gave them truth-clarifying materials, and told them to let others know what we had just told them. As time went on, our restaurant's reputation reached farther and farther. Quite a few times, people from other provinces drove here and said, "We heard that people who practice Falun Gong are running this place fairly, giving customers great value, and are not only very nice to the customers, but also teach people the Falun Gong exercises." We said, "Yes. We want more people to benefit from Falun Gong."
Some customers asked, "What does 'Thousand-year Predestined Relationship' mean?" I said, "Everyone in the world has been waiting for thousands of years, even millions of years, for this opportunity to practice Falun Gong. That is why we call it 'Thousand-year Predestined Relationship.'" They said, "Falun Gong is China's hope. You practitioners are so good! Your master must be really good. Please, pass my regards to your master!"
For over two years, countless people have learned the true facts about the practice and the persecution from us. During this time our "Thousand-year Predestined Relationship" eatery has been ransacked twice, and I was arrested twice. Following the second arrest, the officials sentenced me to three years in a labor camp, but the labor camp refused to accept me because my right kidney had been removed. I was instead held at the Laishui County Detention Center for eleven months.
