(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Yang Fujin was a Falun Gong practitioner from Yanji City, Jilin Province. His wife, Ms. Yin Fengqin, also a practitioner, died as a result of the persecution on January 29, 2010. Officials from the local 610 Office and police department still continued to pressure and intimidate him and he could find nowhere to seek justice. His practitioner daughter, Ms. Yang Lijuan, was persecuted until she developed a mental disorder and could not take care of her two young sons. Having no other alternative, he handed his grandsons to one of his relatives for adoption. Grief stricken, he died recently at the age of 62.
Mr. Yang Fujin, 62, died because of the persecution
Mr. Yang's wife, Ms. Yin Fengqin, died as a result of the persecution on January 29, 2010
As one of the millions of victims of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, Mr. Yang's family was broken and decimated. Because of CCP mistreatment, he suffered from paralysis in his lower body. His daughter suffered from a mental disorder because of how she was treated when she was held in the Women's Drug Rehabilitation Center of Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. His son-in-law, Mr. Li Guangshi, is now in Jilin Province Prison. Mr. Yang's wife became the only one to take care of the whole family, including their two grandsons, ages six and three.
On January 29, 2010, officers from the 610 Office of Jilin Province and police from the National Security Group of Yanji City, including Piao Guinan and Li Chengzhe, broke into his home and tried to arrest his wife. During the arrest Ms. Yin fell from the fifth floor balcony window of her home and died. At the time, officers Li Chengzhe and Piao Guinan were closely watching her change clothes on the balcony. More than ten police and other officers were present and witnessed the whole thing.
Arrested, sentenced to forced labor and imprisonment, and tortured to paralysis
Mr. Yang, who lived in the Shuangyang residential area on Chaoyang Street, Yanji City, was employed at the Minzu Leather Shoe Factory of Yanji City. He started practicing Falun Gong in April 1996, which benefited him both physically and mentally. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, he went to the provincial government of Jilin Province on July 20, 1999, to appeal for Falun Gong. From that day on, he and his family were targeted by the CCP for cruel persecution.
On July 22 he was arrested by local police and detained for one day in the Military Art School of Yanji City. On October 17 he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong but was arrested and sent back to his home city. He was mistreated and intimidated by Wu Jinglin, an officers from the National Security Group of Yanbian Korean Autonomous State, Jilin Provincem and Chen Runlong, an officer from the Section of Politics and Security of Yanji City Police Department. He was then detained in the Yanji City Detention Center for 22 days.
In October 2000 Mr. Yang went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong again but was arrested halfway by officers from the Police Department of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. He was sent back to his home city and detained in Yanji City Detention Center for about one month. After that he was sentenced to forced labor for two years, first in Yanbian State Forced Labor Camp and then in Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp of Jiutai City, Jilin Province. In the labor camps he was brainwashed and forced to do hard labor.
In August 2008 Mr. Yang was released, but the persecution did not end. When he went home he was fired from his job, which left him without any income and his family had to live on his wife's pension.
In 2003 Mr. Yang was put under house arrest and was usually harassed by CCP officers from Chaoyang Police Station and the local street commission. In May 2004 officers from Yanji City Police Department and Chaoyang Police Station broke his door lock with an electric drill and broke into his home. They ransacked his home and took away his private property, including Falun Gong books. The family had to leave their home to avoid further harassment and lived in Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, for four years.
In 2008 Mr. Yang and his son-in-law were arrested in Mudanjiang City by police from the National Security Group of Yanbian State headed by Xiao Bin and Piao Guinan and police from the National Security Group of Mudanjiang City. He was detained in the Dunhua City Detention Center for more than a month and then transferred to Tumen City Detention Center, where his term was extended up to five months. When he was held in Dunhua Detention Center, he was suspended in the air by officer Chen Runlong for a whole morning. As a result, the symptoms of his stroke recurred, and his health deteriorated. After that he was sent to Yanji City Detention Center and brought to trial. Due to his cerebral thrombosis, he was sentenced to four years of imprisonment with a suspension of three years for medical treatment.
His wife persecuted to death
Mr. Yang's wife, Ms. Yin Fengqin, 63 years old, was an employee of the Irrigation Projects Section of Yanbian State government. She started practicing Falun Gong in April 1996. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, she was subjected to relentless persecution including arrests and house arrest. In 2000 she was sentenced to two years of forced labor and was held in the notorious Heizuizi Labor Camp of Jilin Province. In the labor camp she was brainwashed and forced to work without pay. As a result she almost became blind. After she was released in March 2002, she was often harassed by local CCP officials.
In the morning on January 29, 2010, officers from the Shuangyang Community of Yanji City and two other women, Ma from Jilin City and Mu from Yanji City, went to the couple's home and pressured them to give up Falun Gong. When Ms. Yin refused to cooperate, they called police from the 610 Office and the National Security Group of Yanji City to have her arrested. During the process of the arrest, Ms. Yin fell from the balcony window of her home. Her ribs and the bones in her arms, legs, and spine were fractured. She died after she was rushed to the Yanbian State Hospital.
In the small balcony, besides Ms Yin, police officers Li Chengzhe and Piao Guinan closely watched her when she was changing clothes. Others there at the time were Mu and Ma and more than 10 officers from the local residential community.
His daughter persecuted to mental disorder
Mr. Yang's daughter, Ms. Yang Lijuan, 34 years old, is a former employee of the Tourism Bureau Of Yanbian Prefecture. She started practicing Falun Gong in May 1997. After the persecution began, she was arrested, her home was ransacked, and she was brainwashed. To protest this persecution, she went on hunger strikes. The police force fed her, shocked her with high voltage electric batons, and cruelly beat her.
In 2001 Ms. Yang was arrested and sentenced to forced labor for one year in Heizuizi Labor Camp. In the labor camp she was brainwashed, forced to do slave labor, and pressured to give up her practice of Falun Gong.
In May 2002 Ms. Yang went to Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province, to see her relatives. On her way back, she was arrested by officers from the Railway Police Station of Mudanjiang City and accused of carrying Falun Gong materials. She was sent to the Aihe Detention Center of Mudanjiang City, where she was held for seven months. When Ms. Yang protested, she was tortured. Guards also injected her with unknown drugs, causing a mental disorder. After that she was sent to the Women's Drug Rehabilitation Center of Habin City, Heilongjiang Province, and cruelly tortured.
In the drug rehabilitation center, Ms. Yang refused to work. In retaliation, the police beat, verbally abused, and tortured her in many ways, including sleep deprivation by locking her to the radiator all night. The police later injected her with unknown drugs, which worsened her mental disorder and jeopardized her life. When she was in critical condition, the guards released, seeking to avoid being held responsible for her condition. Her family asked officers Yu and Wang from the rehabilitation center, "How come you mistreated her and she is in such bad shape?" The police simply said, "We did not mistreat her."
Because of the mental disorder Ms. Yang was not longer able to take care of herself and could not even eat dinner without her mother's help. Her condition did finally improve after three years
His son-in-law sentenced to five years of imprisonment
Mr. Yang's son-in-law started practicing Falun Gong in 1999. After the persecution of Falun Gong began, he was persecuted many times. From 1999 to 2000 he went to Beijng to appeal for Falun Gong many times, for which he was sentenced to forced labor by the National Security group of Yanji City. He was forced to work and brainwashed when he was held in the Yanbian State Forced Labor Camp.
In December 2001, in an attempt to conceal the death of Mr. Wang Tiesong, a Falun Gong practitioner from Erdaobaihe Town, Antu County, Jilin Province (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2006/3/23/71088.html), the labor camp transferred all practitioners to Yinmahe Labor Camp in Jiutai City, Jilin Province. Mr. Li and other practitioners were forced to work and were subjected to brainwashing.
In 2008 police from the National Security Group of Yanbian State, including Xiao Bin and Piao Guinan, arrested Mr. Li and his father-in-law in Mudanjiang City. On October 2008 the CCP court of Yanji City sentenced him to five years of imprisonment based on groundless accusations. He was sent to Jilin Province Prison without any of his family members being informed.
Mr. Li's sons, one 6 years old and the other 3, were left with his mother-in-law. After Ms. Yin Fengqin died as a result of the persecution, his sons were adopted by some of his relatives.
Nowhere to obtain justice, Mr. Yang succumbs to grief
After Ms. Yin died, the Yanji City Police Station officers waited for decisions from their superiors. They placated Mr. Yang's family with sweet words even as they argued with them regarding the issue of compensation.
Under great pressure, the family gave up their accusations against the officers involved in the persecution, but they insisted that the Yanji City Police Station should pay them financial compensation, so the family could have something to live on. In the meantime, they stipulated that Mr. Li Guangshi be released so that he could come home to take care of the family. Yanji Police Station told them that all their requirements were negotiable and that they would try their best to meet them. Yanji City Police Department later wrote to the family, telling them to go to the police department for negotiations on February 3, 2010.
On February 3, a Wednesday, about ten people from Mr. Yang's family went to the Yanji City Police Department. When they arrived, they realized that the police had made precautionary arrangements for their visit as they noticed the yard in front of the gate, a parking lot usually full of cars, was cleared. At the gate, the police rudely ordered all of them to have their photos taken one at a time. Many officers present were carrying cameras and taking pictures and videos of the family. The atmosphere was pressing and intimidating.
The attitude of Yanji City Police Department regarding the death of Ms. Yin changed completely. They denied the fact that police were on the balcony when Ms Yin died and were critical of Mr. Yang's family, saying that they had treated the officers rudely. They said they had agreed to give compensation out of sympathy, but, to get it, the family should beg them for it. Otherwise they would get nothing.
Mr. Yang's effort to seek justice from the police failed. Even worse, the family was intimidated and humiliated by the police, headed by Du Yun. Only three of the family members were allowed to go home, while the others were stuffed in a police car and taken to the local police station. Through interrogation and intimidation, the police warned them not to seek justice for Ms. Yin anymore.
Despite his poor health, Mr. Yang and the other five members of his family--his son and daughter-in-law, his mentally-ill daughter, and his two young grandsons--appealed for their suffering. They went to the Yanbian State Government, the Yanji City Government, the Politics and Law Committee of Yanji City, and other authorities to seek justice but to no avail. They were monitored and shadowed by police wherever they went. Even worse, the CCP officers from the 610 Office and local police kept threatening and intimidating them to deter them from continuing the appeal. The painful experience worsened Mr. Yang's physical and mental condition, and he recently died, grief stricken.
We call for help so that Mr. Li Guangshi, who is still in prison, can be released soon. We hope this poor family will not be persecuted further.
