(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 33 cities or counties in 13 provinces. In this report, 27 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 38 practitioners were illegally arrested.
1. [Huadian City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wang Xiaohu, Mr. Li Shiping and Ms. Jiao Ling Arrested
Mr. Wang Xiaohu, Mr. Li Shiping and Ms. Jiao Ling are practitioners from Huadian City. On April 23, 2010, while they were clarifying the truth in Changshan area, they were reported to the authorities and arrested. They are being detained at the Changshan Detention Center.
2. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wu Aihua and Another Practitioner Arrested
On April 23, 2010, Ms. Wu Aihua, from Jinzhou District, Dalian City, and another practitioner were reported to the authorities when they were clarifying the truth to people. The police from the Yongzheng Police Station in Jinzhou District arrested and detained them at the Yongzheng Police Station. Five police officers from the Yongzheng Police Station went to Ms. Wu's home and ransacked it.

3. [Gaizhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Xu Fengzhi Arrested
Ms. Xu Fengzhi is a practitioner from Nuanquan Town, Gaizhou City. At around 9:00 a.m. on April 22, 2010, the police from the Gaizhou City Domestic Security Division and Wang Qingyu, the director of the Nuanquan Town Police Station, came to Ms. Xu's home and arrested her. Later, she was sent to the Yingkou City Detention Center.

4. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Mr. Xu Baiyi Passes Away After Being Paralyzed from Persecution
Mr. Xu Baiyi, in his 50's, was an employee of the Jilin City Steering Machinery Factory. He had been arrested and detained at the detention centers and the forced labor camps several times and suffered brutal persecution. Half of his skull was damaged from the torture and he became paralyzed. His family had to put him in a senior center. He passed away at the end of 2009.
5. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Gao Guosheng Arrested
Ms. Gao Guosheng is a practitioner from Xingsheng Village, Heitai Town, Mishan City. On the evening of April 22, 2010, he went to visit his relative. On his way back, he was clarifying the truth to a villager and was reported to the Heitai Town Police Station. The director at the police station and a few police officers tracked him down and arrested him. He is being detained at the Heitai Town Police Station.

6. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Lu Xiuying and Ms. Liu Juan Arrested and Sent to the Fushun Brainwashing Center on April 17 and April 18, 2010 Respectively

8. [Chongqing] Ms. Zhang Guizhen's Home Ransacked
At around 10:00 a.m. on April 21, 2010, Liu Bing, a police officer from the Xinqiao Police Station led several police officers from the Domestic Security Division to Ms. Zhang Guizhen's home and ransacked it for over two hours.
9. [Da'an City, Jilin Province] Mr. Wu Tongling Released after Seven-Month Hunger Strike
On March 25, 2009, the officials from the Da'an City 610 Office arrested Mr. Wu Tonglin and then sent him to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai City. Since July 2009, Mr. Wu began his hunger strike. More than seven months later, when he was on the verge of death and fell unconscious, his family was notified. On January 31, 2010, Mr. Wu came back home.
10. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Han Binying Transferred to Qianjin Forced Labor Camp
On the morning of March 20, 2010, when Ms. Han Binying was clarifying the truth to people, the police officers from the Minqiang Police Station arrested her. She was sent to the Yaziquan Detention Center in Harbin City for 15 days of detention on the same night. It was reported that she was sentenced to one year of forced labor without notifying her family. A few days ago, she was sent to the Qianjin Forced Labor Camp.

11. [Shanghai] Ms. Xing Bin Arrested at Her Workplace
Ms. Xing Bin is from Chengdu City, Sichuan Province and works in Shanghai. On April 24, 2010, the police from the Jinqiao Road Police Station arrived at her workplace, Leggett & Platt Consulting Co. in Shanghai, and arrested her.

12. [Binhai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Lao Yaqin Arrested
At around 6:00 p.m. on April 19, 2010, the police from the Binbei Police Division of Binhai City Police Department arrested Ms. Lao Yaqin when she was distributing Falun Gong fliers. They also went to her home and ransacked it.
13. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] More Information on Ms. Wu Jinfeng's Arrest
Ms. Wu Jinfeng, in her 50's, is a practitioner from Laiyang City. At around noon on April 22, 2010, when she was distributing Shen Yun DVDs near Fuqian Middle School, the police from the Wenhau Road Police Station arrested her. At round 6:00 p.m., four police officers came to her home and started to ransack it. Later, more police officers came. They ransacked the place until around 10:00 p.m.. They confiscated a DVD burner, a computer, some Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. Ms. Wu is now being detained at the Laiyang City Detention Center.
14. [Laizhou City, Shandong Province] Ms. Chen Yunmin Arrested
On the evening of April 10, 2010, while Ms. Chen Yunmin was on her way home from work, the police from the Laizhou City Domestic Security Division arrested her. She is being detained at the Laizhou City Detention Center. Her family was not allowed to visit her.
15. [Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Li Arrested and Her Home Ransacked
Ms. Wang Li is a practitioner from Zhou Village, Shandong Province. Around April 10, 2010, the officials from the local 610 Office arrested her and ransacked her home. They confiscated over 20,000 yuan, bank books totaling 70,000 yuan and some Falun Gong materials.
On April 21, 2010, another practitioner from Zhou Village, Ms. Yang Cuimei, was arrested. Her family members went to the local 610 Office to request for her release but were not allowed to meet with any officials.
16. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Li Huimin Arrested
Li Fenglin, director of the Chengde City Domestic Security Division participated in Ms. Li's arrest.

17. [Zuihua City, Hebei Province] Mr. Guo Xudong and Three Other Practitioners Arrested
Mr. Gui Xudong is a practitioner from Xiliangzihe Village, Zuihua City. On April 21, 2010, the police from the Zuihua City Domestic Security Division and the officials from the 610 Office arrested him. Last month, four practitioners from Xiliangzihe Village were arrested including Mr. Gui.

18. [Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Wang Weineng and Ms. Wang Juan Arrested
Mr. Wang Weineng and Ms. Wang Juan are from Hengyang City, Jiangsu Province and work in Wuxi City. The police officers from the Madun Police Station arrested and detained.
19. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Ji Guozhen Arrested
At around 10:00 a.m. on April 22, 2010, while Ms. Ji Guozhen was clarifying the truth to people, the police from the Xiaojingyu Police Station arrested her. At around 5:30 p.m., Bao Hongbin, the chief of the Section of Politics and Law of the Wanbolin Police Department, led over a dozen police officers to Ms. Ji's home. They ransacked the place and confiscated many of her personal belongings.
20. [Anshun City, Guizhou Province] Wei Juntao Sentenced to Four Years in Prison
Ms. Wei Juntao, 64 years old, is a retiree from the Anshun City An Winery. On the afternoon of June 3, 2009, the police from the Anshu City State Security Bureau and the 610 Office of the Kaifa District Police Department arrested Ms. Wei and sent her to the Anshun City Second Detention Center. On March 29, 2010, she was sentenced to 4 years in prison. The police from the Songqi Town Police Station transferred her to the Yang'ai Farm in Guizhou Province.

21. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Zhixian Arrested and Her Home Ransacked
On February 14, 2010, Chinese New Year's Day, while Ms. Wang Zhixian was walking on the street, the police from the Gangcheng Police Station of the Tiedong Police Department in Anshan City arrested her and ransacked her home. Ms. Wang has been detained in the Anshan City First Detention Center. The police from the Tiedong Police Department are trying to fabricate evidence in order to indict her. They are working with the officials from the Tiedong Court to try to have her sentenced in the near future.
This is the third time that Ms. Wang was arrested. The first time, she was sentence to 3 years of forced labor. In 2008, she was arrested again and brutally tortured. Her arm was broken from the beating. She was on the verge of a mental breakdown and bit off portions of her own lips. She suffered tremendously both physically and psychologically.

23. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Deng Jinbo Passed Away Due to Persecution
Ms. Deng Jinbo, 49, was a resident of Shiren Township, Hulan District, Harbin City. Sometime between 2003 and 2004, the police from the Hulan District Police Department arrested her and sentenced her to 2 years of forced labor. During the detention at the labor camp, she was forced to work more than 10 hours a day and suffered poor living conditions. Her health deteriorated and she suffered from several illnesses. After she was released, she was not able to recover. In June 2006, she passed away.
24. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Brainwashing Center Set Up in Nanchong City to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners
At around 11:00 a.m. on April 20, 2010, Ms. Huang Zhiping, a practitioner from Xiaolong Town, Gaoping District, was arrested by the police from the Xiaolong Police Station and then sent to the Yangjiawan Brainwashing Center in West Mountain, Nanchong City.
25. [Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province] Two Practitioners Sentenced to Forced Labor
Between September and October 2009, several practitioners were arrested in Yancheng City. Two of them were sentenced to forced labor. The others are being detained at the local detention center. The detained practitioners include Ms. Wang Bumei, Mr. Ma Jun and Mr. Lin Kaiqiang.
26. [Dali County, Shannxi Province] Mr. Wang Jianguo and Other Practitioners Sentenced
In October 2009, several practitioners in Dali County were arrested. They were tortured with the tiger bench in an effort to force them to renounce their beliefs. Several practitioners were sentenced to 3 to 5 years including Mr. Wang Genfa, Mr. Yang Li, Mr. Wang Jianguo (4 years) and Ms. Yang Cuixia (5 years).

27. [Binzhou City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Rao and His Wife, Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen, Sentenced to Forced Labor
On March 16, 2010, the officials from the Bincheng District 610 Office in Binzhou City arrested Mr. Chen Rao and his wife, Ms. Zhang Xiuzhen. They had been detained at the Bincheng District Detention Center for a month. Since they refused to renounce Falun Gong or cooperate with orders, they were respectively sentenced to one and a half years
and two years in prison. They were sent to the Wangcui Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province.
28. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Ms. Xiao Yun Arrested
29. [Huili County, Sichuan Province] A Practitioner Arrested and Sent to Forced Labor
At around 10:00 a.m. on July 29, 2008, Jiang Fengliang, the director of the Huili County Domestic Security Division, led seven police officers to a female practitioner's home. They ransacked her home and confiscated a satellite dish and its receiver, and all Falun Gong related materials. Then they detained her and her husband and interrogated them.
At around 5:00 p.m. on the same day, she was sent to a detention center. Then she was transferred to the Huili Detention Center the next day. After being detained there for 31 days, she was sent to the Nanmusi Forced Labor Camp and was detained there for 1 year and 3 months. At the labor camp, she was confined in a solitary cell on the third floor. Two inmates were assigned to watch her around the clock. They forced her to read books that defamed Falun Gong. She was also forced to work more than 10 hours a day.
30. [Lankao County, Henan Province] Ms. Zhang Gaizhi Arrested
On April 15, 2010, Liu Yuejin, the director of the Kaifeng City Domestic Security Division led the police officers from the Lankao County Domestic Security Division to break into Ms. Zhang Gaizhi's home and ransack it. They also went to another house owned by Ms. Zhang's family and ransacked it as well. The officers confiscated their personal belongings. They arrested Ms. Zhang and her husband who is not a practitioner. He was released later on the same day. Ms. Zhang is being detained at the Lankao County Detention Center.
It was reported that in order to get her released, her husband was forced to pay over 10,000 yuan.
31. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Mr. Han Chao Arrested
Mr. Han Chao is a practitioner from Ping'an County, Shulan City. He works in Jilin City. On April 15, 2010, when he was posting Falun Gong materials near the intersection of Shanghai Road and Tianjin Street in Jilin City, the police from the State Security Bureau arrested him. Then they brought him to his workplace and searched his desk. They found some Falun Gong materials. The next day, Mr. Han was sent to the Xiaobaishan Prison. His family still does not know about his arrest.
32. [Mulan County, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Gu Haiyan Arrested and His Home Ransacked
On the afternoon of April 21, 2010, the police from the Harbin City Police Department and the Harbin City Security Bureau went to Mulan County Electric Power Bureau where Mr. Gu Haiyan was working. They arrested him and brought him back to his home. They ransacked his home and confiscated two printers, a laminating machine and some other personal belongings. Ms. Gu is being detained at the Jinlan Hotel in Mulan County.
33. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Police from Mudanjiang Domestic Security Bureau Arrest Mr. Ma Jiliang and Other Practitioners
On the morning of March 1, 2010, Mr. Zhang Jiliang was arrested. At noon on the same day, the police from the Xiangyang Police Station tricked Ms. Zhang Ping's mother into opening the door of her home. They arrested Ms. Zhang who was visiting her mother and also confiscated some of her mother's personal belongings. On the same day, the police from the Domestic Security Division deceived Mr. Zhao Zhongjiang into meeting with them and arrested him. All of the arrested practitioners were detained at the detention center.
Recently, the police are preparing materials in an effort to indict Mr. Zhang Jiliang and Ms. Zhang Ping. On April 15, 2010, Mr. Zhao Zhongjiang was sent to a place out of town. It was reported that he was sentenced to two years of forced labor.

34. [Luzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Li Dahong Still Detained
On April 19, 2010, while Ms. Li Dahong, Ms. Liu Pengmei and Ms. Tang Lizhen, from Naxi District, Luzhou City, were clarifying the truth outside Baidi Middle School, Gao Li, the director of the Naxi District Domestic Security Division, led police officers to arrest them. At round 8:00 p.m. on the same day, Ms. Liu Pengmei was released. At around 1:00 p.m. the next day, Ms. Tang Lizhen was released. However, Ms. Li Dahong was sent to the detention center. Her home was ransacked as well.
35. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Mr. Ma Guoqi and Ms. Wang Yuchun on Trial
At 1:30 p.m. on April 19, 2010, Ms. Wang Yuchun was on trial at the Shenhe District Court in Shenyang City. Her family hired a defense lawyer for her but the lawyer was blocked from entering the court and was thus unable to defend her.
At 9:00 a.m. on April 20, 2010, Mr. Ma Guoqi was on trial at the Shenhe District Court. His lawyer was present at the trial. He requested the prosecutor to provide evidence but was refused. He defended Mr. Ma's innocence. The defense process lasted more than two hours. The prosecutor and the judge had ran out of excuses and adjourned the trial.
36. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Guiling Arrested by Agents from the 610 Office
Ms. Zhang Guiling is a practitioner from Sanjia Village, Faku County, Shenyang City. At around 7:00 a.m. on April 20, 2010, agents from the Faku County 610 Office and Cao Guofeng, the party secretary of Sanjia Village, came to Ms. Zhang's home and arrested her. She was then sent to the Shenyang City Penitentiary.

37. [Beijing] Beijing Judicial Bureau Plans Hearing on License Suspension of Lawyer Tang Jitian and Liu Wei
The Beijing Judicial Bureau had originally planned to hold the hearing on April 22, 2010 to suspend Lawyer Tang Tianji and Lawyer Li Wei's licenses because the two lawyers did not "cooperate" with the court while defending Falun Gong practitioners.
Before the trial of a Falun Gong practitioner, Lawyer Tang Tianji and Lawyer Li Wei were harassed and the court officials tried to block their entries but failed. During the trial, the lawyers were constantly interrupted during their defense. Thus, they were unable to conduct a normal defense process. To uphold justice and dignity, they withdrew.

On the afternoon of April 20, 2010, Ms. Wang Shupei went to the Zhaoyuan City 610 Office to clarify the truth but was detained there.
40. [Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province] More Practitioners Persecuted
More practitioners in Liaoyuan City are being persecuted, including Mr. Yang Xue, sentenced to 10 years in prison; Mr. Han Jinhui, sentenced to 11 years in prison. Ms. Guo Enlan, Ms. Yin Lanhua, Mr. Li Tiekun and Mr. Ai Lihua were sentenced in 2009.
