People's Reactions to Our Truth-Clarification Efforts Reflect What We Need to Cultivate Away
(Clearwisdom.net) The following incidents occurred many years ago when I went out to clarify the facts about Falun Dafa with my wife. I would like to share my understandings.
When talking to people, I was quite good in telling several people about the natural disasters happening in recent years and the fabricated events by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Before I finished, one man said, "You're a great storyteller! [You are] truly talented!"After I returned home, I realized that although I was clarifying the facts and exposing the CCP's crimes, deep down I wanted to validate myself.
Once, I found a public place where many people gathered to talk about things. There was a man who liked to voice his opinions. I thought that if I could convince him to support Dafa, he would tell more people. With this hidden intention in mind, I went to talk to him. Somehow, we got into a disagreement about something and I became angry. At home, when I looked inward, I realized that I wanted to control the man and have him do and think what I wanted him to. It was my own attachment that caused the argument. As a practitioner, I must let go of all attachments.
On another occasion, several people were talking about the rampant corruption occurring in society at a dry cleaning shop. I used the opportunity to tell them about the evilness of the CCP. One of them shouted out loud, "Time is really tough for us. Let us revolt against communism. Down with the Communist Party!" At the time, I was very happy to hear that. Later, when I thought about the entire event, I realized that what I said was right and how the people reacted wasn't wrong. However, their intense emotion indicated that I harbored hatred against the CCP. As a practitioner, I shouldn't harbor any negative feelings towards anyone, not even the CCP.
Just think, if practitioners' character can't improve during the Fa-rectification period, then when we validate the Fa, the negative side will interfere. It is like what Teacher said about cursive style calligraphy in "Teaching the Fa at the Discussion on Creating Fine Art"--our human notions can cause everyday people to say or act in ways that have a negative impact. Their actions and thoughts are reminders for us to improve our character. Thus, we should be thankful to them. However, if we blame them for the wrong they have caused, then we are on the wrong track.
Teacher said in Zhuan Falun,
"Everything has its karmic relationship. Why can human beings be human? It is because human beings have sentimentality. All relate to this sentimentality. Whether a person likes to do something or not, is happy or unhappy, loves or hates something, and everything in the entire human society comes from this sentimentality. If this sentimentality is not relinquished, you will be unable to practice cultivation. If you are free from this sentimentality, nobody can affect you. An everyday person's mind will be unable to sway you. What takes over in its place is benevolence, which is something more noble."
During the persecution, several practitioners hope for an end to Fa-rectification. Actually, we should mature in cultivation through validating the Fa, being rational, and continually improving our character to bring joy to Master!
This is some of my personal understanding. Please point out anything that is improper. Heshi!
