(Clearwisdom.net) Several days ago, I encountered an elderly official while clarifying the truth in a local neighborhood. Holding my hands, he asked me in an emotional voice, "May I quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) now?" Seeing my surprised look, he continued to say, "Don't you recognize me? I'm old Mr. Ma." I answered quickly, "Yes, I do." He replied with a smile, "Fate! It is because of fate that we have meet again!"
Several interchanges between us brought me back to three months ago when I clarified the truth to him and urged him to quit the CCP. This old man is a senior intellectual who is also about seventy years old like me. I directly talked about the current situation with him and then changed the topic to Falun Gong. I said, "Falun Gong teaches people Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and to conduct themselves honorably at all times. You can see how good Falun Gong is." I also told him several miraculous stories about the spread of Falun Gong around the world. He was glad to hear this and told me, "I have already heard that Falun Gong is good. Today after hearing your words, I have become much clearer. I long for the Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance that is advocated by Falun Gong. If everyone follows this principle, wouldn't the society become harmonious?"
Subsequently, I told him the inside story about the staged Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident. In addition, I gave him a detailed introduction to the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. He strongly agreed with the opinions that it contained and wanted to study it after returning home. When I urged him to quit the CCP, he didn't say no immediately, but told me his personal experience. He began telling his story, "I suffered persecutions many times in the past just for being honest. I had suffered three major blows in life. The first one happened during my days in school. The second one occurred when I stepped into society. I was accused of being a rightist. Suddenly, I became a negative example in the teaching environment and was subject to criticism at any given moment. Since then, I became petrified and didn't dare to say anything or express any political views."
"The third one was the most serious one." He continued, "It happened in the 1960s during the Cultural Revolution and it almost took my life. During that period, people had to guard against each other at every moment. Though you are a Communist Party official today, you can become an enemy tomorrow; today two individuals are good friends, but tomorrow they might become two hostile forces; even though you are husband and wife or father and son, you can become enemies in a flash. Family members also had to guard against each other. Facing this hostile environment, I couldn't bear it anymore and my nature of being truthful and offering honest opinions got buried. I told people, "Everyone becomes a target of the revolution, even our good friends and family members." Just for saying this, I was sent to a rural area and had to live in a cowshed. Since then, I suffered re-education through labor and was criticized every day. Not until ten years later was I redressed for this injustice. When I finally returned home, my wife said in tears, "You neither pursue fame nor self-interest, but won't you stop telling the truth, which brings you trouble?" Don't you know to look before you leap?" Since then, I considered my wife's words as my motto."
The old man said, "What you told me just now, including the Nine Commentaries is very reasonable and very true. However, regarding whether to quit the CCP, please let me consider it for a while. I don't want to get into any more trouble. I'm old now, I can no longer bear any more suffering."
His sad story truly reflects the voice of the generation in that period. Therefore, I didn't persist. I just told him to first carefully read the Nine Commentaries and the truth-clarifying materials.
Now, three months later, we meet again. In this large city that has several million citizens, it is not easy to meet a stranger a second time. Master Li Hongzhi said, "Nothing is by chance anymore, and nothing will happen just by chance." (Teaching the Fa in the City of Los Angeles, February 25, 2006) Like what he said in the beginning, "Fate! It is because of fate that we meet again." It is not by chance. Instead, it is fate and under the enlightenment given to me by Master Li, hinting to me that he should be saved. This time from his facial expression, I could see that he had already been awakened. I joked with him, "Well, did your wife give you an official approval?" He answered with a smile, "Falun Gong is so good. It will save me. Why do I still need approval?" "Yes, that's true," I replied.
The old man said, "My old friend, I have already read the Nine Commentaries several times. Every section and every part tells the truth and each sentence truly reflects my heart. Looking back at what I had suffered in the past, it is the CCP's crime. I'm not wrong at all! I told my wife, "How good the Nine Commentaries is. It is far beyond what the evil CCP told us. We can no longer follow the CCP and be their lifeless objects." "I agree with Falun Gong and Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I want to be a good person. Please help me quit the CCP as soon as possible! I want to immediately get rid of this burden."
