After the show, Township Chief Lin Wun-bin exclaimed, "This show has a purifying effect on people's hearts and tremendously enhances the local artistic level in the Yunlin area."
He said that he would be very happy to provide a suitable venue for Shen Yun in Huwei Township to raise the artistic level there, too. He said that the show was more than great entertainment, "For me, tonight's program is not simply a refined artistic performance, but it also has educational value."
He added, "I felt that many of tonight's programs, such as 'Splitting the Mountain,' 'The Buddha's Teachings Spread Far and Wide,' 'Drummers of the West,' and 'Handkerchiefs,' could help us plan our infrastructure and globalization. It was a high-class show."
"Shen Yun illustrated ancient legends through artistic dance. It was very good inspiration for planning our community."
Referring to the purity of the Shen Yun show, Chief Lin said, "I am very happy to see the Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company perform in Yunlin County today. I believe it will have a positive impact on local people's hearts."
Senior high principal: Shen Yun demonstrates the "magnificent culture of flourishing ages"
The principal of Yi-Fong High School, Mr. Yu Kuoliang (R), was among the enthusiastic audience members fascinated by the Shen Yun show in Yunlin County on April 23, 2010
Also in the audience was Mr. Yu Kuoliang, principal of the Yi-Fong High School.
Mr. Yu said, "Shen Yun has demonstrated the momentum of the Han Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, both magnificent culture of flourishing ages."
"Shen Yun Performing Arts showcased a high-level cultural art with philosophical connotations. It illustrated traditional Chinese culture and really moved the audience."
Mr. Yu praised Shen Yun's portrayal of ancient Chinese culture, saying, "Art has long been the combination of politics, economy, and culture, since ancient times. Shen Yun has fully showcased the momentum of the Han Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty. In particular, the overall choreography, sound effects, and lighting were so magnificent, as if we were witnessing that glorious culture in person.
"The program 'The Emperor Ushers in a Glorious Age' was overwhelming. Chinese culture is certainly a polytheistic culture. Divinely imparted culture features respect for ancestors, heaven and earth, worshipping deities, and believing in Confucianism, Buddhism, and Daoism. The Shen Yun show fully conveyed this kind of message."
Commenting on the harmonizing effect of Shen Yun, Mr. Yu concluded, "I found that the spirit conveyed by the Shen Yun show was the harmonization of heaven and humanity. This is what education should focus on. Culture and the arts are something we need to seriously work on in the long run."
Family-medicine Director: Lyrics arouse awareness
After seeing the show, Dr. Hsieh Rongyuan, director of the Family Medicine Department of Putz Hospital's Department of Health, said, "I will introduce Shen Yun to my patients and ask them to see the show next time."
The doctor's whole family attended at the show.
"The vocal performances, 'Truth Will Light the Way,' 'A Message to the World,' and 'Calmly Take a Look,' all had lyrics that aroused people's awareness of self-salvation," he said.
"Displaying the lyrics on the backdrops made it very convenient for the audience to understand the meaning. The organizers were very considerate."
"Nowadays, natural disasters and man-made miseries are occurring around the world. As human beings are subject to the cycle of birth, old age, sickness, and death, we witness people coming and going at the hospital and struggling in agony without good spiritual reliance every day."
"If those people had the opportunity to see Shen Yun, I believe their agonies could be relieved to a certain extent."
"Among the programs I saw today, those depicting Falun Gong's plight were what I liked the most... I spotted some people practicing Falun Gong exercises in a park years ago, and at that time, I felt that it was quite good. But much to my surprise, it has spread to over 100 countries around the world."
