(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu is in critical condition and is being imprisoned at the Nantong Rugao City Detention Center in Jiangsu Province. Her seventy-year-old mother wrote a letter to the Rugao City Police Department, demanding that Ms. Liu be released immediately. On September 19, officers from the Rugao City Police Department arrested Ms. Liu for sending text messages about Falun Gong. The case was rejected by the prosecutor's office, but the Rugao City Police Department still refused to release Ms. Liu.
Ms. Liu had once suffered from severe renal failure and uremia. After practicing Falun Dafa, Ms. Liu's health was restored, and an X-ray of her kidneys showed them to be healthy. When the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Dafa on July 20, 1999, the Anlu Police Department found Ms. Liu and told her she was not allowed to cultivate, she showed the officers two X-rays of her kidneys, before and after she started practicing Falun Gong. The policemen were speechless after seeing the X-rays.
After Ms. Liu was arrested, her mother went to various departments in Rugao to ask for her release. The officials pushed responsibility among one another and refused to release her, and even resorted to threatening Ms. Liu's mother. The following is an open letter written by Ms. Liu's mother, demanding her daughter's release.
To the Nantong Rugao City law enforcement agencies in Jiangsu Province:
It has been seven months since my daughter Liu Chunyan was arrested and detained at Rugao City Detention Center. She was arrested on September 16, 2009. Doctors have diagnosed her with high blood pressure, heart disease and edema of the kidneys. Her life is in danger! I worry about my daughter's safety every minute of the day. It is a matter of life and death, and I request that you immediately release my daughter Liu Chunyan!
Prior to 1995, my daughter's health was becoming progressively worse. At that time, she had hepatitis B and edema from being bedridden. She was diagnosed with right kidney failure. It was recommended that she undergo surgery right away, or the left kidney could be affected, and become life threatening. Besides the astronomical medical expense, the operation was considered extremely risky. It was during this time that someone introduced her to the practice of Falun Gong. After she started practicing Falun Gong, she wanted to live up to the standard of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She was kind to everyone, respected elders, disciplined her children, set herself as a good example, and was considerate of others. Her morality and virtue improved, as did her health. At the same time, her temperament became better and the family atmosphere also saw a positive change. Practicing Falun Gong brought mental and physical health to Liu Chunyan. Everyone around her saw it, and it also helped her family better appreciate the meaning of life.
As a previously critically ill patient, my daughter became healthy, both mentally and physically. It was Falun Gong that changed and saved her. She has no other intentions but to compassionately tell people about her own experience benefiting from Falun Gong. Her only hope is that people will understand the beauty of Falun Gong and learn about the brutal persecution that the government is carrying out against Falun Gong. What she said was all true from her personal experience, and it was done in a just and honorable way, she didn't violate the Constitution, and she no laws. Furthermore, you know as well as I that she didn't hurt anyone in doing so.
What has she done wrong? She was only persisting in her belief, and exercising her lawful rights as a citizen, as granted by the Constitution. Nonetheless, she was held at the detention center for seven months, and persecuted so severely that her life is again in critical condition.
While being held in detention, my daughter was struck violently on the head by policeman Wang from Nantong, and this hurt her badly. When she went to court, she could not even go up the stairs, and her son had to carry her. Who doesn't have family, and children? We are made of flesh and blood, and we all should have compassion and a conscience! I believe the job of police is to protect the rights of people, do what's right, punish the bad and reward the good. I believe that you are able to see what is right and what is wrong. Please immediately end my daughter's illegal imprisonment, so that she can return home and rejoin her family.
