(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 18 cities or counties in seven provinces. In this report, 27 Falun Dafa practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 17 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Hong'an Police Station officer Liu Dongsheng and others broke into Ms. Li Shumei's home in July 2008, and took her, her husband and their child into custody. Ms. Li was held at the local detention center for a year. She was not released until her family was forced to pay 14,000 yuan extortion. No legal procedures were followed.
The police confiscated a computer, two printers, a paper-cutting machine, a stapler, a VCD player, a MP3 player, nine-jin (4.5 kg) of sugar, a package of rice, some flour, a cutting board, a barrel of vegetable oil, an umbrella and 4,700 cash Ms. Li's son earned from doing part time work.

Ms. A Pu and Ms. A Lian were arrested on March 4, 2010, in the Pulandian countryside.

Ms. Jiang Lianying and Ms. Li Cairong from Yuanshang Town were arrested on the morning of March 8, 2010, as they spoke with people about Falun Gong at a market. Yuanshang Town Police Station officers made the arrest and took them to the station. The police ransacked Ms. Li's home that same afternoon.

4. [Xinhuang County, Hunan Province] Ms. Qiu Qianying Lives Away from Home to Avoid the Persecution
Xinhuang County 610 Office agents and those from State Security Division broke into Ms. Qiu Qianying's home on the morning of March 5, 2010, in an attempt to arrest Ms. Qiu. She now lives away from home to avoid arrest. Her whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Wu Guomin, 40, was arrested at work at a dental clinic on March 4, 2010. Guan County police made the arrest and confiscated a computer and other valuables in the clinic. The police also ransacked 40-year-old Mr. Dong Weidong's home.
8. [Jilin Province] Ms. Wang Shuhua Suffers Mental Breakdown As a Result of Gross Abuse at a Brainwashing Facility
Helong City Court officials tried Ms. Li Fengyun from Yanji City on December 2009. Many practitioners sent righteous thoughts for her in close proximity to the courthouse. The local police videotaped them and arrested more than 20 practitioners on January 16, 2010. The practitioners were taken either to a brainwashing facility at an Industrial School or forced labor camps. Ms. Wang Shuhua suffers from a mental disorder because of the gross abuse and mistreatment she experienced at the brainwashing facility.
9. [Huadian City, Jilin Province] Police Severely Beat Ms. Wu Chunru
Ms. Wu Chunru went to the Hongshi Town Police Station on March 5, 2010, to obtain a residential certificate for her son. A police officer asked her if she still practiced Falun Gong. Ms. Wu replied, "Yes!" A police officer then suggested she go upstairs, as he drove her husband out of the police station. The officer told her to leave her fingerprint and tried to take her photo. Ms. Wu refused to comply. Five officers, under the direction of the police chief, held her to the floor and violently beat her, causing injuries to her neck, the corners of her eyes, and head. They proceeded to ransack her home but did not find anything they wanted. Ms. Wu has returned home.

10. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhou Yalan Arrested
Ms. Zhou Yalan from Huangmei County was arrested on March 6, 2010, as she spoke with people about Falun Gong. Chengguan Town Police Station officers made the arrest and then ransacked her home. Ms. Zhou was held at the Shili Detention Center that same night.

Seven officers from the Ju County Domestic Security Division and police station broke into Ms. Ji Hongfen's home in Qiangyangjiazhuang, Qishan Town, on March 6, 2010. They arrested and took Ms. Ji to the Ju County Detention Center.

Ms. Song Chunyuan from Tahe County was arrested as she distributed Falun Gong materials. She has been held at the Tahe County Detention Center. We have learned that she may be transferred to Harbin City, to be held.

14. [Tianjin] Mr. Gu Xueshuang Mentally Confused as a Result of Severe Abuse
Tanggu District Domestic Security Division deputy head Han Yong and officers from the Hangzhoudao Police Station arrested Ms. Gu Xueshuang at work on February 25, 2010. The police walked away with a computer and other personal belongings.
Ms. Gu's family received a notice on the evening of March 8, 2010, informing them to take Ms. Gu home. In about a week, Ms. Gu had become emaciated, was unable to speak, eat or drink, and was in a confused state of mind.

15. [Changchun, Jilin Province] Additional Information Regarding the Arrest of Ms. Wang Xiangzhen
Ms. Wang Xiangzhen from Changchun was arrested on February 26, 2010. Zhongdong Police Station officers made the arrest and took her to the Weizigou Detention Center, to be held for ten days. Ms. Wang was supposed to be released on March 8, 2010. Her family went to pick her up early that morning but were told she would be released at 3:00 p.m. They were ordered to wait at the Zhongdong Police Station, which they did until 7:00 p.m. but never saw Ms. Wang. Her whereabouts are unknown.

16. [Guangzhou, Guangdong Province] Mr. Zhang Yuanbo Put on Trial
Mr. Zhang Yuanbo from the Tianhe District, Guangzhou City, stood trial at 2:30 p.m. on March 9, 2010. He was clad in thin clothing as he was taken to the courtroom at 3:00 p.m. Mr. Zhang made a final defense, but the judge interrupted him after he spoke for merely one minute. The judge declared the court session adjourned. The verdict has so far not been released.

17. [Xianning, Hubei Province] Mr. Huang Bin to Be Tried on March 12, 2010
18. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Li Yingxia and Mr. Bai Shulin Grossly Abused
Ms. Li Yingxia, 43, and Ms. Bai Shulin, 45, were arrested on September 28, 2007. Participating in the arrest were the Suihua City 610 Office head Wang Shubo, Police Department political head Wang Zhijie, and more than a dozen officers from the Dongfeng Police Station. They confiscated a computer and took the practitioners to a detention center. Ms. Li was released after holding a 13-day hunger strike.
Ms. Bai held a 15-day hunger strike at the detention center but was taken to the Suihua City Forced Labor Camp to be held for two years, after having been held at the detention center for 31 days. During that period she was placed in solitary confinement and was tortured on a metal chair for 15 days. No.1 Division deputy head Liu Wei ordered a criminal to tie Ms. Bai up on a metal chair, and for five consecutive days blasted noises into her ear through an earphone she was forced to wear. Ms. Bai was also not allowed to use the restroom for one day.
19. [Jining, Shandong Province] Central District Court Officials Attempt to Put Disabled Mr. Xie Yundai and Mr. Xie Qiuzhi on Trial
Mr. Xie Yundai and Mr. Xie Qiuzhi from Xiecheng Village, Jintun Township, Jiaxiang County, are both in their 60s. They distributed Falun Gong materials on the evening of December 27, 2009, in Yutuan Township in the Central District of Jining City. The police arrested them and ransacked their homes on December 28, 2009. The two practitioners were released after having been held for an entire day.
Central District Court officials arrived at the two practitioners' homes on February 19, 2010, to inform them that they would be tried.

Nanling Police Station officers arrested four practitioners along with their colleagues and the boss of the Jinjiang Printing Company in Changchun City on March 5, 2010. The police confiscated four computers from the company. Practitioners Mr. Shang Xiaodong, Mr. Yin Jun, Ms. Zhang Fengqin, Ms. Yao Meiling, and others were held in custody that same day. They are now at the Changchun City No. 3 Detention Center.

23. [Shanghai] List of Practitioners Grossly Abused at the Tilanqiao Prison
Mr. Luo Wei was given a seven-year prison term, from March 9, 2009, to March 8, 2016. His home is located on Leshan Road in the Xuhui District. He is now in the No. 4 Ward of the prison. Mr. Luo had previously been subjected to one and a half years of forced labor in 2000, and was then sentenced to three years in prison in 2002. His practitioner wife, Ms. Chi Bo, 52, was also sentenced this time.
