On March 7th, 2010, Shen Yun performed in Louisville, Kentucky at the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. People from all walks of life attended. One of the often expressed themes was how each person was moved by the show. Some, such as Beth Wilder, a museum director, learned about the situation of Falun Gong in China for the first time. She spoke emotionally of the scene Nothing Can Block the Divine Path, "That one story ... we actually cried, when the lady, the child and husband, when they got attacked and taken away and the woman died. We actually cried at that one... Just to learn a little more about the Chinese people and the situation in their country ... to see it through dance ... it really touched me."

Others were also moved by the depiction plight of Falun Gong in China, including the Executive VP of the Fund for the Arts, Barbara Sexton Smith. "The message I took from the performance was that I was born and reared in a fabulous country in the entire world; freedom of speech, freedom of religion and freedom of belief," Ms. Sexton Smith emphasized. However, in summing up the entire evening's show, Mrs. Sexton Smith couldn't shake the heart-wrenching scenes depicting the persecution of Falun Gong. "That was very moving. I'll think about that for a long time," she said.

Also describing Nothing Can Block the Divine Path Mr. Jim Smith, a trial attorney, said, "That was a particularly disturbing scene ... I thought it was very realistic. ... it was emotionally disturbing because you see what the people may have to go through. I think it's probably a realistic portrayal in a lot of ways and that's troubling, but I think it's important to bring those traits out."
Anne Ewing summed it up when she said, "These artists are really speaking out for different people--speaking out for what is right."
