(Clearwisdom.net) Associate professor Li Li of the Philosophy Department at the National Prosecutors College has been imprisoned for seven years for her belief and practice of Falun Dafa. She is currently detained in Beijing Women's Prison, where she was deprived of sleep for over twenty days.

Professor Li has been practicing Falun Dafa since 1992. After July 20, 1999, National Prosecutors College administrators and its parent organization, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, tried to force Ms. Li to give up her beliefs. Ms. Li expressed firmly that cultivation was not a crime. Later, she was fired from her job, and her apartment was taken away. She was kept under surveillance by the Bajiao Police Station in Shijingshan District. Professor Li was also coordinator of the Shijingshan Falun Dafa practice site, so the police paid special attention to her, monitoring her continuously.

In 2000, Bajiao Police Station officers tried to take Ms. Li to a brainwashing program, so she was forced to leave home. In November 2002, she was arrested in Shenzhen for distributing Falun Dafa truth clarification DVDs. She was held at the Nanshan Detention Center in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province and later brought back to Beijing.

During her detention in the Fengtai District Detention Center in Beijing in 2003, she was taken to the brainwashing program at the Beijing Legal Education Center. Ms. Li did not give in, even after one month of continuous brainwashing, so she was taken back to the detention center.

In 2004, Ms. Li was given a 9-year sentence, and is currently detained at the Beijing Women's Prison. At that time, prison guards led by Tian Fengjing persecuted Falun Gong practitioners. At first, Li Xiaomei pretended kindness but lied to Ms. Li, who believed her. Soon after, she recognized the lies, so she wrote a letter to disclose the torture methods towards practitioners in the prison, and placed it in the prosecutor's prison mailbox. Although prosecutors work closely with prison officials, her action shocked the perpetrators. The Beijing Women's Prison removed guard Tian Fengqing from Prison Ward 10. Since that time, guards do not dare to torture Falun Gong practitioners publicly. However, they hate Ms. Li, and believe that her letter made them lose face. Officials and guards wanted revenge, so they brought her to an empty prison ward to "reform" her.

The new prison director, Zheng Yumei, and guard Li Xiaomei took turns torturing her. They deprived her of sleep and restroom use. They wrote words slandering Dafa's Teacher over the wall and floor, then forced her to step on Teacher's name. They tortured her for 29 days. Ms. Li almost fainted several times, but refused to give up her beliefs. Later, guards stopped torturing her, but still monitored her closely.

Prison Ward 10 was closed in 2009, so Ms. Li was transferred to Prison Ward 4. She was tightly controlled there as well. The prison officials overloaded practitioners with forced labor to torture those believing in Falun Dafa. Inmates who collaborated with officials were allowed to read books and not do forced labor; their prison terms could also be reduced. Guards used these methods to break down a practitioner's will. Guards said that they torture practitioners this way to see how strong their wills were, and how much punishment their physical bodies could endure.

Beijing Women's Prison (originally called the Tiantanghe Prison) is a dreadful place where Falun Gong practitioners are viciously persecuted. They deceive local and international media by claiming "humane and civilized prison management", while in fact, they carry out the task of "transforming" practitioners by torturing them both physically and mentally. They also brainwash practitioners with carefully crafted lies, utilizing deceptive brainwashing and inhuman physical punishment. Since 2000, the torture of practitioners in the prison resulted in several practitioners' deaths and disabilities.
