Without presenting any documents, they ransacked her home and took away her computer and personal property valued at about 10,000 yuan.

After interrogating her, the police sent Ms. Chen to the Yueyang Detention Center. She was sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp on October 19, 2010, and transferred to the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp on October 29, 2010. The labor camp accepted her without going through any procedures as required by law.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Chen went to Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to the government. In February 2000, she was arrested at the Tiananmen Square by the Beijing Police. She was subsequently transferred to the local police and detained in the Hubin Detention Center in Yueyang for one month.

In April 2000, Ms. Chen went to Beijing again to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. When she said to the officers at the Appeals Office, "Falun Dafa is good. Falun Dafa is righteous," six or seven policemen proceeded to beat her, and ripped her clothing in the process. Later, she was transferred into the custody of the local police and detained in the Yueyang Detention Center for 15 days.

In 2001, officers from the Junshan District 610 Office, the Liangxinbao Town 610 Office, the Domestic Security Team of the Junshan Police Department, and the Liangxinbao Police Department arrested Ms. Chen and three other Falun Gong practitioners. The police hung posters on them, forced them to stand on a vehicle and paraded them around the Junshan District to humiliate them.

The police often went to Ms. Chen's home to harass her. Her husband was forced to divorce her.
