Mr. Cui Xianmiao Illegally Tried in Dengfeng City, Henan Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Cui Xianmiao, a Falun Gong practitioner in Luoyang City, Henan Province, was arrested in June 2010 by officers from Songyang Police Station in Dengfeng City, where he had been distributing truth-clarifying Falun Gong materials. Mr. Cui was locked in the local jail, then transferred to the Dengfeng City Detention Center.

Mr. Cui's family found a lawyer to defend him in mid-August. The lawyer promised Mr. Cui to be his defender, should he need one. The lawyer filed a form for Mr. Cui's family on August 24, 2010, and told them that he had to apply for approval from the Department of Justice of Dengfeng City. On September 7, 2010, the City Department of Justice told the lawyer that the Department of Justice of He'nan Province would not allow him to be Mr. Cui's defense lawyer. They did not provide any reason or justification for this decision.

The Court of Dengfeng City illegally tried Mr. Cui Xianmiao on October 28, 2010. Mr. Cui defended himself. He asked the court to show the truth-clarifying materials and explained what the materials were, but his evidence was rejected. The proceedings lasted less than 40 minutes.
