(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Xiuqin from Tangyuan County, Heilongjiang Province, was arrested by Guo Gang, director of Jixiang Police Station, on July 1, 2010, when she was on her way to Jixiang Township. Zhou Jinzhe, deputy political commissar for the Tangyuan Police Department, then took her to the Tangyuan Detention Center, where she has been held for the past three months. Ms. Li was brutally force-fed at the detention center, and nearly died due to the torture she received. She has been repeatedly sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.

As a result of the torture she received, Ms. Li remained bedridden for a long period of time and could not take care of herself. She had lost a lot of weight. When she was taken to the hospital for emergency care on August 23, her family members were not notified. They only found out later, when they asked medical staff at the hospital if she had been examined there.
When Ms. Li's family members went to request her release on medical grounds, officers from the Police Department, the Procuratorate and the court shirked responsibility, while officials from the Tangyuan Court had already organized a trial for Ms. Li and nine other practitioners.
Ms. Li was previously detained at the detention center for 48 days, when officers from the Domestic Security Division of the Tangyuan Police Department arrested her on May 27, 2006.
