(Clearwisdom.net) WASHINGTON--The DC area was treated to a third consecutive evening of Shen Yun Performing Arts, live at the Kennedy Center Opera house on January 21. Mary Jo Tarallo, who works with the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports (PCPFS), saw the show and was enthralled by it.

"I thought the show was probably one of the best ensemble presentations I've ever seen. Between the agility of the dancers and the expressions on their faces and the messages they were trying to transmit to the audience, the costumes, even the audio-visual, was all very cleverly done. It was very different from anything I've ever seen," she declared.

The PCPFS is an advisory committee of volunteer citizens who advise the President through the Secretary of Health and Human Services about physical activity, fitness, and sports in America, according to its website. Seeing Shen Yun gave Ms. Tarallo pause to reflect on her life's work:

"Nurturing your body both physically and mentally is really important for your wellbeing, and being active on a year-round basis, in addition to having a good attitude toward life, is really important. Even though this was dance, it expressed the same kinds of thoughts just like anybody would by blending human spirit with activity," she noted.


Seeing Shen Yun gave Ms. Tarallo pause to reflect on her life's work.

Mrs. Tarallo observed a "philosophical" theme present throughout the performance:

"My takeaway from it [is that] truth will prevail, and the way they portrayed that through different aspects of life and blending mortal with the immortal, I thought that was a very, very creative and clever way to convey that message."

Tenor Hong Ming's "outstanding voice" made a particular impression on Mrs. Tarallo, as did principal dancer Timothy Wu. "The lead dancer was really extraordinary. He had so many expressions on his face, particularly [when] doing one of the latter segments. You could see all the emotions coming out of his body. It was fabulous."

How would she describe the show to a friend?

"I would say that it was a very interesting and integrated combination of music, dance, entertainment, costume design, and multimedia; it had elements of so many creative arts that were also blended with a philosophical message. It was very energetic, very vibrant, colorful, entertaining, all at the same time... [in] one word, I would just say 'phenomenal!'"
