Mr. Wheeler was "pleasantly surprised" by what he saw, "I thought it was terrific, We really liked the music and the dance was very interesting." When asked what stood out to him, he replied, "I kind of thought i was getting a message, [about] open society. To do that type of act and show I thought was pretty courageous."

Mrs. Wheeler was taken in by the show's piano accompanist. She said, "The piano accompanist is very talented. She did a lot of work out there." When asked for her thoughts on the musical repertoire she excitedly said, "The orchestra I thought was wonderful and I really liked the blend of oriental instruments and the ones we're used to hearing. The more traditional kinds of sounds. I thought it was a beautiful blend. The singers were wonderful. The soprano was fabulous. Well they were all wonderful, but I particularly enjoyed her." She was also thoroughly impressed by the dancers, "The [women] dancers, how they float across the stage like they were on air. The little dainty steps that they take make them glide across the stage and they all blend and do the circles... Oh my gracious! It was really good. We're glad we came."
Graduate Student: "The show is surprisingly good. I liked it a lot"
Debbie M is a graduate student at Georgetown University. She is studying Islamic Muslim Christian Relations. She came not knowing what to expect from the Shen Yun performance. When asked about her favorite part, she quickly responded, "Everything, and the message [of] freedom and religious freedom, and that there are more areas of China like Mongolia and that it's all part of China. I liked seeing the dances from different parts of China. It was good, really good."
Government Worker: "It was really beautiful"
Julie Hughes is a governmental worker in energy policy. After witnessing Shen Yun's revival of classical Chinese culture, she shared her feelings. "I thought it was really beautiful. I was impressed by the dancing. I really enjoyed the music. I was really impressed by the athleticism of the dancers too."
Miss Hughes mentioned that she used to be a ballet dancer, and when asked for her opinion about the dancing she replied, "I thought it was really beautiful, the grace behind it and the athleticism and acrobatics. It was what surprised me the most. I would recommend it to anyone. It was really beautiful."
