(Clearwisdom.net) Over the weekend, Shen Yun performed in Atlanta, Georgia at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Four seasons after making its 2006 debut in Atlanta, Shen Yun Performing Arts has quadrupled the number of shows it offers the southern capital. The audience was warm and responsive on opening night. They applauded heartily, laughed and sometimes cried out in response to the beauty on stage.
Executive Loves Understanding Different Cultures
Mr. Hemmings' understanding about China grew as a result of Shen Yun
One executive found it refreshing. Mr. Hemmings, a director with AT&T, said the performance "was educational, it was entertaining and it was a very refreshing entertainment. It was very, very good. It was extremely good. We need more of these things to be able to understand different cultures and different people. It would help us to have a better world. Absolutely."
He felt he learned something, "I love understanding different cultures," and originally, he thought he could go to China to see it. Because the artists were mostly ethnic Chinese people who live outside of China, "the show exposed a lot of things I didn't know." Later, Mr. Hemmings understood that a show exactly like Shen Yun cannot be seen in China now. "But, it brought up that it may not be [performed in China], because those cultures are being suppressed. So, it was very good."
Security Director Thrilled: 'I don't think I've seen anything quite as beautiful in my life'
Ms. Forehand took in all of the beauty of Shen Yun
Ms. Forehand, a security director in downtown Atlanta, decided to see Shen Yun because she thought the brochure looked really nice, and seeing the first half she felt it was a good decision. She said she was extremely impressed by the show's choreography. "The choreography is exceptional, exceptional! The dancers, and the precision, and the shear beauty. I don't think I've seen anything quite as beautiful in my life. And the colorful costuming is second to none, and I've seen a lot. It's actually gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Everybody should get a chance to see this."
She said she also found the spiritual nature of the show touching. "That's what surprised me and impressed me as well, because that's something that I wasn't expecting and very pleased with because I'm a spiritual person and I really was touched by that." She added that she liked the program layout, "it gives a little synopsis of each little vignette so it's really easy to follow that way and it's just really nice, really nice, well done, well done!"
Consulting Firm Executive: Power and Energy Incredible
Mr. Gee, a consulting firm executive, came with a Chinese friend. He was thrilled with Shen Yun's performance. "I absolutely loved it, I loved the color, the energy and the dancing," he said. ... "This is the first time I have been to something like this. It is amazing. I have always wanted to come and see this. The discipline, the power and the energy that goes into that dancing is also incredible. The training [they go through] must be immense, including the coordination and timing-- having to move so quickly. They have to get changed between those acts, so they must be fit and strong. It must take years to train like that.
"I am from London originally, but I love Chinese traditions, food and culture. I lived right outside Chinatown in London ... I have seen how the Chinese people have shown themselves to English people, but now I am beginning to see how China shows itself to China, in the more traditional aspects of the culture, and I love it, because it is a very old and beautiful culture ... London itself has a very old culture, but it is no longer as strong and unique as it once was, Chinese culture still is.
"I have been to ballet ... I love opera, but what I saw today with Shen Yun is absolutely beautiful ... it is far more disciplined, stronger, faster and coordinated, and I truly loved it ... I would certainly come and watch this again!"
