(Clearwisdom.net) (Correspondent from Laiwu City) On April 9, 2009, Mr. Liu Xiaohai, former employee of Panxi Coal Company in Laiwu City, and his wife, Ms. Wang Haiyan, were arrested at the home of her younger sister in Laiwu City. Ms. Wang Haiyan was brutally tortured and didn't get released until she was near death. Mr. Liu Xiaohai; his younger sister, Ms. Liu Aifang; and his brother-in-law, Mr. Lv Changming, are all in forced labor camps, and their respective homes have been ransacked and their valuables stolen.

Since the persecution of Falun Gong started, Mr. Liu Xiaohai has been detained many times. In addition, he has been fined, monitored, and deprived of personal freedom.

Liu Xiaohai started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. Prior to becoming practitioners, both Xiaohai and his wife were in poor health. Xiaohai had bronchitis--he had injured his lung, and x-rays showed shadows and scaring. His wife, Haiyan, had a low-grade fever every day as well as non-stop coughing at night and minor sicknesses here and there on a regular basis. After practicing Falun Gong, everyone, young and old, became very healthy and got along very well with one another within the family. However, ever since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, there has been no peace or happiness for Mr. Liu's family.

On July 20, 1999, with television and other media smearing Falun Gong, Liu Xiaohai and Wang Haiyan, who had benefited so much from practicing Falun Gong, came forward to speak up for the practice. As a result they lost their freedom and were terrorized. The Security Department of Panxi Coal Company regularly had someone out monitoring and tailing Mr. Liu. He was removed from his position as District Chief. Realizing he had to choose between Falun Gong and being a member of the CCP, Liu Xiaohai was sure about the nature of the CCP and quit the Party in writing on his own initiative.

After that he had to take a job as a coal picker. He got paid only 150 yuan a month, not enough for a single person to live on, let alone one with a wife and child to support. During that time, good people argued for and stood up for him, and he was then paid the same amount as his original salary. Mr. Liu was not greedy. He didn't take public property, wouldn't even accept anything given to him, and advised others not to accept anything that didn't belong to them. He told them to remember: "Good will be rewarded with good, and evil will provoke retribution." He never complained about what he was asked to do, and he did his job well. Because he was so responsible, before long he was promoted to "District Assistant Chief."

Although he got a promotion, he remained the same, doing things well and unselfishly. At that time, a new young worker was often yelled at for not knowing how to do things. Mr. Liu stepped forward and said, "You guys should teach him a little. How would you feel if he was your own son? We know how we'd feel. We should have a little patience and show him how to do things and also let him focus on issues of security."

One time at work, he lost his footing and fell to the concrete from the second floor. Hearing a big "crash," everybody dashed out their offices, looking scared. They said, "Hurry and take him to the hospital." As Mr. Liu slowly got up, he said, "I'm okay!" so that no one would worry.
